Undermain Theatre's 34th season examines the world from a largely female perspective with three mainstage productions and adds a 4 week reading series of new American work in the spring. Our world premiere and season opener examines the world of Mexican cartels as portrayed by an all-female cast, by an evolving young writer. Our fall production is a regional premiere of an established Pulitzer-prize winning playwright, which takes place in an American setting inhabited and driven by three different generations of women in an eerie atmosphere near a Civil War battleground.

AFTER ORLANDO, directed by Wendy C. Goldberg, is an international theater action comprised of more than 70 short plays written in response to the tragic shooting at Pulse Nightclub on June 12, 2016.

PlayMakers Repertory Company will partner with Triangle theater companies Little Green Pig, Black Ops and the Kenan Theater Company (a University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill undergraduate theater troupe) to proudly present a staged reading of AFTER ORLANDO, an evening of short plays in response to the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. (Blair Baker & Zac Kline artistic directors) and NoPassport Theatre Alliance and Press (Caridad Svich, founder) and will be on November 28th, at 7:30pm in the Kenan Theater at the Center for Dramatic Arts.

INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) is proud to announce that the acclaimed world premiere of THE MAIDS by Jose Rivera, adapted from the play by Jean Genet, will extend until October 30th.  Daniel Irizarry directs a cast that features Laura Butler Rivera, Daniel Irizarry, Charlie Munn, Casey Robinson, and Folami Williams.  THE MAIDS by Jose Rivera is presented in association with One-Eighth Theater (founded by its Artistic Directors Daniel Irizarry and Laura Butler Rivera), which is continuing its residency at INTAR Theatre.  THE MAIDS was developed, in part, with assistance from the Orchard Project, a program of The Exchange (Ari Edelson, Artistic Director Dean Strober, Executive Director, www.exchangenyc.org).

To begin its 33rd season, Undermain Theatre opened to a winning reception and enthusiastic reviews with the first of a trilogy of new plays exploring the US/Mexico drug wars that will be produced over the course of the next three seasons.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) is currently accepting applications for the 2017/18 season of its 2050 Fellowship program for emerging playwrights and directors. Applications are due October 17, 2016 at 5pm EST.
