IVANKA 2020, Salty Brine and More Head to Joe's Pub This Week

Joe's Pub ends this week on a more chill note with Gary Lucas; Justin Vivian Bond's new show inspired by a Marianne Faithfull song; charismatic performer Susan Werner; country stars Bobby Pinson and RaeLynn as part of the Bob DiPiero Songwriters Series; and swinging, electrifying music, featuring Bernard Purdie along with entertaining stories retold by David Haney. Next week, the volume cranks up with Ryan Raftery's latest hilarious satire IVANKA 2020; the annual celebration of the intersection art and mental health Love is EleMental; Joe's Pub Working Group 2020 member Salty Brine continues their dazzling exploration of pop music with Living Record Collection - THESE ARE THE CONTENTS OF MY HEAD: The Annie Lennox Show; the third in a five-part concert series exploring Shakespeare's women, black female ambition, and music, Whitney White: Think, And Die; the Joe's Pub performance of the tour of MICHA Música In Transit; a concert from multi-award-winning platinum-selling musician Sarah Harmer with opener Chris Pureka; the fascinating coming of age story of a young woman growing up in New York City with Kelli Sae: Disco, Dicks And Dykes!; and BlackIssuesISSUES, an event that is as much a serenade and celebration of Blackness as it is an indictment of a system and society that is so toxic, it renders Blackness a burden.

FEAST3 Opens This October At UNDER St. Marks Theater

FEAST: A Performance Series returns for its third season of monthly shows celebrating performance-based artists, community and food at UNDER St. Marks Theatre. Featuring a new lineup of performances every month, FEAST has supported the work of such artists as William Burke, Mary Spencer Knapp, Jonas Martin, Amy Jensen, and more from the worlds of theatre, dance, comedy, poetry, music, drag, and beyond.

Fresh off the heels of a nine-month run with the Tony award-winning show Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812,  bandleader & accordionist Mary Spencer Knapp wrote, co-directed, produced & edited the debut episode of her band's new web series Toot Sweet's Variety Show. Set for premiere on April 6, the surrealistic musical comedy/music video combo marks Knapp's filmmaking debut and chronicles her life as a musician in New York, from starting a band to inadvertently making it into a hit Broadway show. 

'GREAT COMET' Cast Members to Perform, Cook Pierogis at Samovarchik Tomorrow

From food, entertainment, and nightlife entrepreneurs Darren Sussman and Roman Gambourg (FEN Group), SAMOVARCHIK, a new fast-casual establishment specializing in traditional Soviet food made fresh, delicious, and affordable, has announced a Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 special event open to the public on Thursday, October 19 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at 11 Stanton Street.

September 29th marked the first show of The Late Comet, a series of late-night shows at Feinstein's/54 Below featuring cast members of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. The Late Comet is produced by Philip Romano. The series kicked off with Celia Mei Rubin in #34andsingle, followed by Brittain Ashford on September 30th. Brittain Ashford Confirms GREAT COMET Return; Who Will Play Pierre?

Brittain Ashford took to social media to confirm she will be returning to GREAT COMET following Ingrid Michaelson's departure from the production. Rumors have been circulating about the fate of the show following the controversy of replacing Okieriete Onaodowan with Mandy Patinkin - who withdrew from the production following the outcry.

So what happened to Oak? Producer Howard Kagan explains: 'This continues our show's remarkable history of having great actors and singers see the show as audience members, only to tell us they are inspired to join the cast! Whenever possible we will accommodate them as we did here with Mandy and his Homeland TV schedule. Oak, who was scheduled to appear as Pierre for this period graciously agreed to make room for Mandy, and we sincerely hope that Oak will return to us in the fall or winter. He is a terrific Pierre.'

Actors' Equity Association just presented Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 with the ninth annual "ACCA" Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. Presented by Equity's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), the ACCA Award is the only industry accolade of its kind to honor the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical.
