The anticipation of celebrating the 50th anniversary of that memorable night, August 23, 1964 when I saw The Beatles live at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time, had me excited for days, knowing this time I would be able to hear the music and celebrate it along with a sold out Hollywood Bowl audience eager to experience some of the best music ever written. And I was not disappointed. The show ROCKED!
Last night (Wednesday, Aug. 20), the award-winning, multi-platinum American singer, songwriter and actor BILLY RAY CYRUS dropped by the House of Blues to perform at “Rock For Ruben,” a benefit concert for the renowned industry guitar tech Ruben Velasco. CYRUS joined friends Rick Springfield and John 5 (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson) to lend his support for Ruben as he undergoes treatment for with Stage IV cancer.

It's been 50 years since the Beatles took Los Angeles by storm with their first concert at the Hollywood Bowl on August 23, 1964. This year, Beatlemania returns to the Bowl stage with a re-creation of that iconic performance Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23, at 8 pm, as well as Sunday, August 24, at 7:30 pm. 'Ringmaster' Dave Stewart (co-founder of the Eurythmics) is joined by a fantastic lineup of talented special guests - all huge fans of the legendary foursome: Australian superstar Vanessa Amorosi, performing all three nights; Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Michelle Branch, performing Saturday and Sunday; multi-platinum recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus, performing all three nights; singer-songwriter and activist Mary Lambert, performing Friday and Sunday; multi-platinum superstar Martina McBride, performing Saturday and Sunday; soul singer Allen Stone, performing all three nights; and alternative R&B/soul singer Liv Warfield, performing all three nights. Rutter, president-elect of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Kushner is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Emmy Awards, and a recipient of the National Medal for Arts. One of the nation's leading arts administrators, Ms. Rutter assumes leadership of the Kennedy Center in September. Most recently she has served as president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and, prior to that, she was the executive director of the Seattle Symphony.
