Nominees Announced for Sage Awards

Minnesota's dance community will gather Tuesday, September 14, 2010, for an evening of award-winning performances and celebration to honor outstanding achievements in dance for 2009/10. The 6th annual SAGE Awards for Dance will recognize artists whose work represents a variety of forms and styles, transcends expectations and reflects our times. Mary Ellen Childs, a past SAGE recipient, will host this year's gala event at the Southern Theater.

Century 21 Will Replace Lincoln Square Barnes & Noble

As reported previously, the Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center, a longtime staple of Lincoln Triangle at 66th and Broadway, will close at the end of January, 2011 due to high rent. According to NBC New York, it will soon be replaced by the designer-discount store Century 21. This will be the second New York location for the store, the first being near the World Trade Center for the past 50 years. The new store is expected to open by fall of 2011.

The New York Times has announced that the Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center, a longtime staple of Lincoln Triangle at 66th and Broadway, will close at the end of January, 2011 at the conclusion of its lease due to high rent.

The Jungle Book is the largest, most ambitious production ever attempted by The Theatre School. Adapted for the stage by Margaret Larlham, the show is based on the beloved classic by Rudyard Kipling. Theatre School Director Matt Thompson is spearheading the production, with co-directors Tarla Hill (former theatre school student) and Ashley Rossetti and features original music by Thomas Hodges.

McKenzie Fine Art Closes 'Reader's Delight,' 8/6

It features painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper by the following artists: Richard Baker, Mary Ellen Bartley, Erica Baum, Tom Burckhardt, Matthew Higgs, Maira Kalman, Jean Lowe, Martin McMurray, Abelardo Morell, Yohei Nishimura, Mamiko Otsubo, Donna Ruff, and Mickey Smith. The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 24th with a reception for the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. and runs through Friday, August 6, 2010.
