Matrix Theatre Company, Michigan's premier producer of community-based, social justice theatre, announced their new Executive Director, Mary Ann McCourt, one month ahead of its 25th Anniversary Extravaganza.

Dead Writers Theatre Collective brings a new level of appreciation to the Oscar Wilde classic, The Importance of Being Earnest, opening July 1 at The Athenaeum Theatre. "To showcase this classic concoction of whipped cream and razor blades, we're juxtaposing the subversive deceit of Wilde's classic while also emphasizing the love story of the two couples," states Collective Artistic Director Jim Schneider. "We're literally staging it in a series of Victorian Valentines -- complete with costumes that are a little over-the-top as they were in Wilde's original production."

A brand new original dark comedy musical will be premiering in Los Angeles this June as part of the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

?The first two weekends in June bring a hilarious murder mystery to South Bend Civic Theatre. Director Tucker Curtis leads his team of actors and designers to bring Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot to the stage from June 3rd through the 12th in what promises to be a laugh-riot of holiday hijinx! Scenic Designer Damen Mroczek transforms the Wilson Theatre into William Gillette's New England mansion.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) performed "The Tiny Tree," an interactive theater production, for 35 enthusiastic preschoolers in the Head Start program at Kapalama Elementary School this morning. The production, designed specifically to promote positive growth and healthy living concepts to young children, is midway through its eight-show run at federally funded Head Start preschool programs across Oahu.

For the second year, Rover Dramawerks is pleased to partner with the playwrights' group 365 Women a Year to present a festival of plays by women, about women, for everyone. This international playwriting coalition, founded by Jesslynn Eisenberg Chamblee, involves playwrights across the world who have signed on to write one or more plays about extraordinary women in both past and present history. The project's ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness, as well as empower and promote female playwrights, and plant seeds of herstory around the country.

Considered the first opera to portray an openly romantic relationship between two self-affirming women, PATIENCE & SARAH is composed by Paula Kimper with libretto by Wende Persons.  The work is based on the novel of the same title by Isabel Miller.
