Mr. Hamlisch holds the distinction of being one of only twelve people to win all four major US performing awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) and one of only two to have won all four of those plus a Pulitzer Prize (the other being Richard Rogers).

Famous People Players Dine and Dream Theatre announces Leave The Porchlight On for 1/2009-4/2009. This show is an inspiring black-light musical based on the true evolution of Famous PEOPLE Players. Troubled youngster Chloe, a wildflower, is sent to perform community service with the troupe. Chloe's relationship with Famous PEOPLE Players, though difficult at times, shows her that hope can survive and flourish in the most unexpected of places. Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, has announced the 26-member Broadway cast of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Newcomers to the cast include Gavin Creel, Caissie Levy and Sasha Allen, who join the rest of the tribe, who are reprising their roles from Central Park last summer. Currently in rehearsal at the Union Square Theatre, HAIR begins preview performances on Friday, March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC) with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

Kerker and presented in cooperation with ASCAP, in the Opera House as a part of the Center's season-long artistic initiative Broadway: The Third Generation. With the composers at the piano, original cast members and Broadway stars perform signature songs that made these artists household names. Free tickets are required. Tickets will be given away one (1) per person in line in front of the Opera House beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009.

Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert, A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights, is produced by 4Good Productions, the same presenters of the 2005 event Broadway's Celebrity Benefit for Hurricane Relief at the Gershwin Theatre. After successful engagements in the Philippines, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Thailand, the international tour of RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA, starring Lea Salonga will wrap up the first leg of its accomplished international tour on Thursday, January 22, 2009 in Singapore.

Beginning performances on Friday, January 16, NICOLE PARKER (from 'MADtv' and Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) will assume the role of Elphaba in the musical blockbuster WICKED. Nicole joins a cast which includes Alli Mauzey as Glinda, Jayne Houdyshell as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Brynn O'Malley as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. Aaron Tveit will return to the role of Fiyero on Friday, January 23. The role of Elphaba is currently being played by Marcie Dodd.

Broadway leading lady Rachel York, most recently seen in the world premiere musical Turn of the Century at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, will launch a series of symphony concert appearances this month. Now through April, the versatile stage, screen, and recording artist will be a guest soloist performing the works of Bernstein, Richard Rodgers, and Andrew Lloyd Webber with major orchestras across the country.
