Elisa Monte Dance Premieres New Season, 4/12-14

The internationally acclaimed Elisa Monte Dancereturns to the New York stage to premiere their brand new 2012 season at The Ailey Citigroup Theatre (at the Joan Weill Center for Dance/405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue) and will present another exhilarating season of dance featuring the New York premieres of 'Unstable Ground," with commissioned music by Lois Vierk; "In Absentia" featuring new music by Kevin Keller; and "Outside In" with original music by Ben Doyle, as well as a revival performance of "Pigs and Fishes" and an excerpt from "Amor Fait" on Thursday, April 12th (8PM) for a limited engagement scheduled through April 14th. Gala benefit performance scheduled for Friday, April 13th (7:30PM)

The Kennedy Center presents Come Fly Away in the Eisenhower Theater from April 18-29, 2012. Conceived, choreographed, and directed by Tony Award® winner and Kennedy Center Honoree Twyla Tharp (Movin' Out) and by special arrangement with the Frank Sinatra Family and Frank Sinatra Enterprises, Come Fly Away blends the legendary vocals of Frank Sinatra with a live on-stage big band and 14 of the world's finest dancers. The show's score combines classic and newly discovered vocal performances from the Sinatra archives, along with Sinatra's signature arrangements by Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Quincy Jones, among others, and brand new charts, for this fresh innovative musical. Press night will take place on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The Martha Graham Dance Company (Janet Eilber, Artistic Director; LaRue Allen, Executive Director) is having a special engagement at The Joyce Theater, NYC; March 13-18. Inner Landscape, the latest offering in the company's innovative series of thematic performances including contextual media and narration, features the acclaimed Graham psychological works in which she laid bare the human psyche. There will be two programs presented by the company as well as a Family matinee show on Saturday-March 17 at 2:00pm. New works by Lar Lubovitch and Yvonne Rainer premiere on March 13 and 15 respectively. Both programs will open with an abstract film montage which overlays excerpts of Graham dancing her psychological works with moments from psychological films of the same era.

Apollo Theatre Celebrates Women's History Month

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Apollo Theater will host Behind the Scenes: Women in Theatre on Monday, March 12. The free panel, which focuses on women's careers in the theatrical industry, is presented by the Apollo Theater Education Program, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, The Broadway League and the League of Professional Theatre Women, as part of the "Made in NY" Industry Series. The panel begins at 6:30p.m. and is free and open to the public.
