CIRCLE THEATRE has announced the full cast and creative team for it's Midwest-premiere production of the hit off-Broadway musical, Triassic Parq! CLAUDIO QUEST, a super new musical, receives its New York premiere this July as part of the 2015 New York Musical Theatre Festival. With a book, music and lyrics Drew Fornarola and Marshall Pailet and direction by Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q), CLAUDIO QUEST begins performances July 7, 2015 at the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at the Pershing Square Signature Theatre and runs through July 14, 2015. CIRCLE THEATRE has announced a new artistic team as it prepares to launch into its first full season in over a year. Circle Theatre began in Oak Park, IL back in 1985 by Karen Skinner, Wayne Buidens and Joseph Bass, where it produced multiple world premieres and earned over 40 Joseph Jefferson Awards in its 28-year residency. After officially transitioning to the city proper in 2013 with the remount of its Jeff Award-winning When the Rain Stops Falling (director: John Gawlik), Circle Theatre produced two more musicals (Death Takes a Holiday and Edges) before taking a break from producing to re-group as an artistic ensemble.
The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) announced today its additional selections for NYMF 2015. Anderson Theater on Wednesday, June 18th at 7:30 pm. Directed by acclaimed Atlanta-based director and choreographer Otis Sallid (Black Nativity, Smokey Joe's Cafe), TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT was the culmination of a five-day BDF musical theatre intensive where students had the unique opportunity to work with the industry's top directors, choreographers, and writers on new material currently being developed for Broadway. The performance featured work and appearances by film and theatre choreographer Michele Lynch (The Last Five Years, Little Miss Sunshine), the award-winning writing team of Drew Fornarola and Marshall Pailet direct from DreamWorks, Titus Burgess (Tina Fey's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," The Little Mermaid), Meg Gillentine (The Producers, Cats), Craig D'Amico (Fiddler on the Roof, Annie Get Your Gun), A.J. Last year, Chance Theater Resident Playwright Marshall Pailet directed his show, Triassic Parq - The Musical, which went on to win the Ovation Award for 'Best Musical - Intimate Theatre.' He also presented two other staged readings as part of our On The Radar New Play Series - Who's Your Baghdaddy or How I Started the Iraq War and a brand new creation - Loch Ness. The show was so new, in fact, that it wasn't even finished yet... until now. The staged reading of the newly complete Loch Ness will perform for one night only - tonight, May 13 at 8pm at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken Theater Arts Center.
The Philadelphia intensive at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts will include master classes devoted to mastering the college audition process led by Mary Anna Dennard, top college audition coach and author of 'I Got In!' Joining Dennard will be representatives from top musical theatre schools including, Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State University), Grant Kretchik (Pace University, Dyson College), Robin Lewis (Rider University), Barbara MacKenzie-Wood (Carnegie Mellon University), Mark Madama (University of Michigan), and Amy Rogers (Pace University).
