Fuse Theatre Ensemble Presents SONNETSCAPE, 4/12-28
by Harmony Wheeler - Mar 29, 2012

Fuse Theater Ensemble is taking on Shakespeare's works in Sonnetscape. People attribute many firsts to William Shakespeare, but in Sonnetscape we see that the Bard also wrote the first great collection of literature detailing the specifics of homosexual love and its layered social complexities. But did he intend for anybody else to read these poems? And did their unauthorized publication in 1609 ultimately lead to his downfall and subsequent historical sanitization? What if the reason we know so little about Shakespeare's life is because his audience knew too much?
