Artists Repertory Theatre will bring its 2014/15 season to close with The Liar, an adaptation of Pierre Cornielle's 17th Century French comedy from the brilliant mind of David Ives, a playwright best known for hilarious adaptations and plays such as All In The Timing and Venus in Fur.
Danforth Art Announces Debra Petke as New Director

The Board of Trustees of Danforth Art MuseumSchool today announces that Debra Petke has been appointed as Executive Director. Petke, who most recently served as President and CEO of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Conn., succeeds Katherine French who retired January 1, 2015. Formally elected in a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on May 19, 2015, Petke was selected after a national search conducted by an internal search committee of Danforth Art trustees and the firm Opportunity Resources, Inc.

(WASHINGTON)-Washington National Opera (WNO) celebrates its seventh season of free opera simulcasts at Nationals Park with title sponsor Mars Chocolate North America for the M&M'S® Opera in the Outfield performance of Rossini's charming romantic comedy Cinderella today, May 16, 2015. This dazzling production has been acclaimed worldwide for its witty characterizations, rainbow-bright sets and costumes, and easy-to-follow English translation, making it a perfect opera for the entire family. Gates open at 5 p.m. for "pre-ball" activities, and the opera will be broadcast live from the Kennedy Center Opera House to the high-definition NatsHD scoreboard at the ballpark at 7 p.m. Free seating will be available in the stands, while access to the outfield grass will be limited on a first-come, first-served basis when gates open at 5 p.m. More information, including a chance to RSVP to win prizes, is available at OperaintheOutfield.org.

A French noble who can lie himself out of any predicament, his hopelessly honest servant, identical twin maids and a meddling father are among the hilarious citizenry that populate The Liar, the final offering of the Deep Dish Theater Company's 14th season. David Ives' mirthful adaptation of the classic comedy by Pierre Corneille, staged by Artistic Director Paul Frellick, opened May 1 and plays through May 23 in the company's theater in University Mall. Orpheum Welcomes Ron Jewell as VP of Centre Operations

The Memphis Development Foundation (MDF), which operates the historic Orpheum Theatre, announces that Ron Jewell, current Director of the Bartlett Performing Arts Center, will join the MDF staff as Vice-President of Operations at the forthcoming Centre for Performing Arts Education. The $14.5 million Centre is expected to formally open in August of this year.
