Texas Performing Arts Announces 2013-2014 Season

Texas Performing Arts continues a legacy of presenting world-class performances to the University of Texas at Austin and Central Texas audiences with the unveiling of the 2013-2014 season. This season highlights talent from around the world in an eclectic mix of music, theatre, dance, and conversation.

RG Dance Projects Presents WE FALL DOWN, WE GET UP, 5/17-18

RG Dance Projects presents We Fall Down, We Get Up featuring three pieces from choreographer and Artistic Director Ruben Graciani on May 17, 2013 at 8pm and May 18, 2013 at 3pm and 8pm at the Martha Graham Center for Contemporary Dance's Studio Theater at Westbeth, 55 Bethune Street, 11th Floor, NYC. Tickets are $20 ($15 for students, seniors, and artists) and can be purchased at www.artful.ly/store/events/1111.

STG Announces 2013 - 2014 Performance Season, Including John Malkovich and PETER AND THE STARCATCHER

The Seattle Theatre Group, (STG) has announced the upcoming 2013-2014 season, with a fair amount of focus on performances taking place at a revitalized Moore Theatre. History has been made at The Moore and the future is about to get a bit brighter. This season offers a great opportunity for renewing a relationship with the oldest operating theatre in the city. STG is making transformative improvements that will significantly expand comfort and dramatically increase the ability for smaller, more 'off-Broadway' style productions, including those produced by local theatre companies, to take place at The Moore.

Paul Hecht, Roberta Maxwell and More Join Cornelia Street Cafe's HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE! Tonight

Cornelia Street Cafe presents Happy Birthday William Shakespeare!, an evening of sonnets and music in celebration of the Bard as part of its ongoing poetry series. The Shakespeare tribute features a fabulous all-star cast of Barbara Feldon, Roberta Maxwell, Tony Award winner Richard Easton and Paul Hecht, with music by soprano Jolle Greenleaf and lutenist, Hank Heijink.

American Repertory Ballet Gala Honors Princeton Ballet School's Maria Youskevitch Tonight

Maria Youskevitch, longtime faculty member at Princeton Ballet School, is one of this year's American Repertory Ballet Gala Honorees, and is the recipient of this year's Audree Estey Award for Excellence in Dance Education. Daughter of one of the leading dancers of the 20th century, Igor Youskevitch, Ms. Youskevitch brings a strong background in and deep knowledge of ballet to her students. She teaches for a variety of levels and, every year, re-stages a full-length classical ballet on Princeton Ballet School students for the School's Spring Production. She has also served as Rehearsal Director for American Repertory Ballet, the professional company associated with Princeton Ballet School, on several occasions.

BAM150, Brooklyn Academy of Music Documentary, Airs on THIRTEEN Today

To commemorate its sesquicentennial, BAM (Brooklyn Academy Of Music) commissioned BAM150, a feature length documentary conceived by award-winning director Michael Sladek that weaves together the institution's vibrant past, present, and future presenting a rich history that mirrors the evolution of performing arts in 20th century America. This landmark film premiered last year at the Tribeca Film Festival and will air tonight, April 19 at 10pm on THIRTEEN.

Martita Goshen's Earthworks Premieres TURNING HOME at Mark Morris Dance Center, Now thru 4/20

Martita Goshen's Earthworks - 9 dancers joined by female equestrian and jockey Janice Blake Baeza - will premiere her 'Turning Home,' a tribute in dance and film to the greatness and goodness of American thoroughbred racehorses Barbaro and the brilliant Ruffian, who both died tragically and too soon. The one-hour work has original music by Art Baron of the Duke's Men, and Grammy Award-winning cellist/composer David Darling, and video by Peter Richards. Three performances, tonight, April 18-20, at the Mark Morris Dance Center, 3 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn.

American Repertory Ballet to Perform at NJPAC's Jersey MOVES! Festival of Dance, 4/27

American Repertory Ballet will perform in New Jersey Performing Arts Center's second annual Jersey Moves! Festival of Dance. The performance will be on April 27, 2013 at 7:30pm at NJPAC's Victoria Theater. ARB will be performing Gerald Arpino's Viva Vivaldi. This charming, virtuosic work in the classical ballet vocabulary will share the stage with Irish dance presented by Timothy Kochka and The Davis Academy, Indian dance by Bani Ray and her dancers, tap by New Jersey Tap Ensemble, and contemporary dance by Dance Tactics and Nimbus Dance Works.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Award Goes to Michelle Dorrance

Jacob's Pillow announces today that Executive and Artistic Director Ella Baff will soon present the seventh annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Award to Michelle Dorrance, an acclaimed tap dancer, choreographer, and Artistic Director of Dorrance Dance. Praised as a "talented choreographer, the most promising one in tap right now" by Brian Seibert of The New York Times, Dorrance is among the most respected tap performers of her generation.

American Repertory Ballet Announces 'All About Pointe Shoes,' 4/26

On April 26, 2013, American Repertory Ballet will present "All About Pointe Shoes," an On Pointe Enrichment Series event. This lecture-demonstration will cover the ins and outs of pointe shoes from brand and material choices to fitting and personal customization tricks from ARB's ballerinas. "All About Pointe Shoes" will be held at 5:15 PM in the Princeton Studio, at 301 North Harrison Street, Princeton, NJ in the Princeton Shopping Center, above McCaffrey's Supermarket.

Rare Photos of Dancers From the Royal Ballet of Cambodia on View at NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, Now thru 5/11

MEMORY PRESERVED: GLASS PLATES PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ROYAL CAMBODIAN DANCERS, an exhibit of rare images of five principal women dancers from the Royal Ballet of Cambodia, will be on display in the United States for the first time at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center (Shelby Cullom Davis Museum, Plaza Corridor Gallery). The exhibition runs from today, March 28th to May 11th, 2013.
