Colin Salmon, star of the James Bond film series, Netflix's Master of None and Syfy's Krypton, has been confirmed to join the cast of the Howard Zinn biopic, The Time Of Our Lies. Guest starring for one night on 2 August, Colin will play the lead role as the American historian, author and social activist, Howard Zinn. Daniel Benzali will star as Howard Zinn for the remainder of the run. With Trang Le and Jessye Romeo also joining the ensemble, The Time Of Our Lies is written by Bianca Bagatourian and directed by Che Walker, with movement by Maureen Fleming. (more...)

The Royal Court has worked with a group of 12 writers from Syria and Lebanon over the last two years with workshops supported by the British Council in Broumana and Beirut. These workshops have been led by playwrights David Greig, Sam Holcroft and Royal Court International Director Elyse Dodgson. Today's Empty Space...Peter Brook Award 25th Anniversary award ceremony at the National Theatre Studio had Thelma Holt, the presenter, give the winner the cheque for £2000 to the Unicorn Theatre for its wonderful introduction to the classics as well as contemporary theatre for children. All nominees Theatre503, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Park Theatre, Union Theatre, and the Orange Tree Theatre received a certificate and critic's speech for distinctive work. (more...)

National Theatre's The Shed, Southwark Playhouse and More Win 2013 Peter Brook Awards

In order for Gifted Companies to present their work in London and for the Fringe/Studio Theatres to afford to book them, this subsidy has been established. The annual Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award of £1500, covering 2 weeks @ £750 per week will be awarded each year in perpetuity with the hope that matching funds will be made available. The annual Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award of £2000 is to help establish deeper development of ensemble work within the studio theatres. (more...)
