SISTER ACT to Play Auditorium Theatre, 11/13-12/2

Broadway In Chicago and producers Whoopi Goldberg, Stage Entertainment and Troika Entertainment are thrilled to announce casting for the North American Tour of five-time Tony Award® nominated musical SISTER ACT, starring Chicago actress Hollis Resnik as Mother Superior and Ta'Rea Campbell as Deloris Van Cartier. SISTER ACT will play the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (50 East Congress Parkway) Nov. 13 - Dec. 2, 2012.

Independent theatre non-company [ad hoc theatre project] re-ignites for the 2012 Philadelphia Fringe Festival with a devised piece built off the backbone of William Shakespeare's Othello, set in the back room of a local whiskey go-go bar. Othello, Desdemona, & Iago Walk Into A Bar runs tonight, September 8th-23rd every day at 6pm (weekdays during happy hour) at the Trestle Inn on 11th & Callowhill.

Second Stage Theatre presents the world premiere musical, DOGFIGHT, which just opeed last night, July 16. Featuring music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Peter Duchan, and choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, the show is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello and runs at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre.

On June 15 The National Theatre of Scotland production of Macbeth starring the Tony Award-winning Alan Cumming opened at the Tramway Theatre in Glasgow, and the show just transferred to the Lincoln Center Festival on July 3. John Tiffany and Alan Cumming (who made his stage debut as Malcolm in Macbeth in 1985) originally worked together on The National Theatre of Scotland's production of Euripides' The Bacchae which took the Edinburgh International Festival by storm in 2007 and subsequently toured in 2008 to Aberdeen, Inverness and Lincoln Center Festival. Charlie Hofheimer is set to join the cast of Nicky Silver's new comedy THE LYONS on Broadway at the Cort Theatre (138 W. 48 St.) starting tonight, June 12. Mr. Hofheimer assumes the role of Curtis Lyons, joining the cast of THE LYONS which stars 2012 Best Actress Tony nominee Linda Lavin, Dick Latessa, Kate Jennings Grant, Brenda Pressley and Gregory Wooddell.

The New York Drama Critics' Circle met on May 7, 2012, at the offices of Time Out New York magazine, to determine the winners of its 77th annual awards. The overall results were Best Play: Sons of the Prophet (Stephen Karam), Best Foreign Play: Tribes (Nina Raine), Best Musical: Once (Enda Walsh, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova) and Special Citations: Signature Theatre Company; Mike Nichols for his contribution to the theater. SONS OF THE PROPHET, TRIBES, ONCE and More Win 2012 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards!

Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2011-2012 season. The award for Best Foreign Play went to Tribes, written by Nina Raine. Once received the award for Best Musical. The selections were made at the 77th annual voting meeting of the organization today at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan. Special Citations were awarded to Mike Nichols and Signature Theatre Company. The awards will be presented at a cocktail reception to be held on Monday, May 14, at Angus McIndoe Restaurant.

Drama Critics Circle to Announce 2012 Award Winners Tonight

Adam Feldman, president of the New York Drama Critics' Circle (NYDCC), has announced that the Circle will meet at the offices of Time Out New York magazine today, Monday, May 7, to select the winners of the 77th annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards, which will be announced at approximately 7pm, immediately following the meeting.
