Orlando Shakes Announces Tony Winning RED And GOD OF CARNAGE

Orlando Shakespeare Theater's Artistic Director, Jim Helsinger, announced the final two plays of the Signature Series 2011-2012 Season. The regional premiere of God Of Carnage, Yasmina Reza's 2009 Tony Award-Winning comedy of grownups behaving badly will run from October 12 - November 13, 2011 in the Goldman Theater. While the Orlando premiere of Red, John Logan's electrifying new drama about artist Mark Rothko that won six 2010 Tony Awards including Best Play, will conclude the series.

Lakewood Theatre Company Opens With THE SECRET GARDEN, 5/6

The Secret Garden, with stage direction by Kirk Mouser and musical direction by Alan D. Lytle, is the last show in Lakewood Theatre Company's 2011-12 season. The production opens May 6 and will continue through Sunday, June 12, 2011. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 PM, Sundays, at 7:00 PM (May 8, 15 and 22), and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM (May 15, 22, 29, June 5 and 12). The show sponsor is The Richard & Janet Geary Foundation.

Fox Valley Repertory invites local male youth to submit their headshot and resume for a role in the professional mainstage summer production of AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; telephone 630-584-6342). They are seeking two male actors ages 9-13 years old that will portray a 10-12 year old boy. There is stipend pay.

This year, Orlando Shakes welcomes former local resident and PlayFest veteran, playwright Mark Brown (Around the World in 80 Days, The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, and China - The Whole Enchilada) back to the Margeson Stage for an Inside the Actor's Studio style conversation with Orlando Shakes Artistic Director Jim Helsinger on Friday, April 8, 2011. Mr. Brown's new play, Don Quixote - The Reckoning will be presented as one of two workshops during PlayFest.
