The League of Professional Theatre Women will present a special event, 'UNSUNG HEROES: BACKSTAGE PROFESSIONALS' for those have chosen to work beyond the spotlight can learn from the backstage pros -- the women who make it happen on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at TheatreLab (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor).

Broadway to Dim Lights on Tuesday for Tharon Musser

The Broadway community mourns the death of Lighting Designer Tharon Musser, who died on April 19th at age 84 after a long illness. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in her memory on Tuesday, April 21st, at exactly 8:00pm for one minute.

Tharon Musser was universally considered the 'Dean of American Lighting Designers'. She graduated from Berea College in 1946 and attended Yale University before moving to New York City to begin her career. Her first Broadway lighting work was Jose Quintero's staging of Eugene O'Neill's Long Days Journey into Night (1956) at the original Helen Hayes Theatre.
