After sipping a drink under the stars before the performance at Peninsula Players Theatre (PPT) and silencing those cell phones, eagerly enjoy their thriller on stage this July written by Britain's Frederick Knott, his iconic Dial M for Murder.

I have to admit I had never seen the 2001 MGM movie, Legally Blonde before seeing LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica. And I am happy to say it is great fun for all ages in every aspect from the effervescent musical numbers presented by the remarkably energetic cast to the over-the-top bright pink costumes designed by Kristie Rutledge. Director/Musical Director Anne Gesling and choreographer Lauren Blair surely spent hours on end putting together the many incredibly intricate musical numbers, including the momentous "What You Want," Elle's video essay to get into Harvard, which includes at least 3 set changes, several costume changes by dozens of cast members, and many types of dance from tap to jazz. That 12-minute number alone is worth the price of admission on its own!

'Dial M for Murder' was first staged on Broadway in 1952 and Knott adapted the script for Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic film.

The Playwrights Realm has confirmed casting and tickets on sale now for the New York Premiere of A Delicate Ship by Anna Ziegler, directed by Margot Bordelon. The production runs Tuesday, August 18 through Saturday, September 12, 2015 with a Thursday, August 27, 2015 opening at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, NYC).

Driven by a powerful, career-high performance by Olivia Wilde (Her; Drinking Buddies; Rush), the film also features Luke Wilson (Ride; Skeleton Twins; Anchorman; The Family Stone), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, Listen Up Philip; The One I Love; Get Him To The Greek), Giovanni Ribisi (Results; Selma; Public Enemies; A Million Way To Die In The West), Ty Simpkins (Jurassic World, Iron Man 3, Insidious) and John Leguizamo (Chef; Ride Along; John Wick; American Ultra). The script was written by Chris Rossi, and features a score by Adam Taylor (August: Osage County).

Rover Dramawerks has announced their SWEET 16 Season of plays "off the beaten path." Rover will present eight mainstage plays, two festivals, and a One Day Only as part of the season, plus a bonus Valentine's Day murder mystery (not included in the season).

Gigi, the new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning musical comedy, will play its final performance today, Sunday, June 21 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). The production, which began previews on Thursday, March 19 and opened officially on Wednesday, April 8, will have played 20 previews and 86 performances.
