Christopher Abbott, Georgia Engel & More to Lead Annie Baker's JOHN at Signature Theatre

Signature Theatre has announced casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the world premiere of John, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker (The Flick) and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). The production runs July 22 to August 30 with an August 11 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. The cast includes Christopher Abbott (HBO's "Girls") as Elias, Hong Chau ("A to Z," "Treme") as Jenny, five-time Emmy Award-nominee Georgia Engel ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show") as Mertis, and Tony Award-nominee Lois Smith (Signature's The Trip to Bountiful, The Illusion, Heartless and The Old Friends) as Genevieve.

The design team includes Mimi Lien (Scenic Design), Ásta Bennie Hostetter (Costume Design), Mark Barton (Lighting Design), Bray Poor (Sound Design). Amanda Michaels is the Production Stage Manager. Casting by Telsey + Company, Will Cantler and Karyn Casl, CSA.

The week after Thanksgiving. A Bed & Breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A cheerful innkeeper. A young couple struggling to stay together. Thousands of inanimate objects, watching. John is the first production of Signature's 2015-16 25th Anniversary Season, and marks the first show of Annie Baker's Signature residency.
