The Playwrights Realm Artistic Director Katherine Kovner has announced that Roberta Pereira has been named the company's new Producing Director.

Roberta Pereira was previously a producer at Bisno Productions where she developed and produced plays and musicals, including A Red Orchid Theater's Off-Broadway premiere of The Opponent by Brett Neveu; Tony-nominated play Mothers and Sons by Terrence McNally, starring Tyne Daly; the Olivier award-winning revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along on the West End; and the Broadway premiere of Grace by Craig Wright, starring Paul Rudd, Michael Shannon, and Ed Asner. Previously, Roberta was an associate producer at Anne Bogart's SITI Company, Executive Producer of the Yale Summer Cabaret in New Haven, and she produced all the auxiliary events for the 2006 Dublin International Theatre Festival. Roberta is also the Co-Founder and Managing Editor of Dress Circle Publishing, the premier publisher of theater-themed books. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University and Yale School of Drama's Theater Management program.

"I have long known Roberta to be a brilliant and imaginative producer, a champion of new and ambitious work, and a passionate and creative theater maker," remarked Artistic Director Katherine Kovner, "Her resume reflects her deep curiosity for all corners of the theatrical landscape, and has given her insight and expertise in everything from new and devised off-Broadway work, to commercial Broadway plays, to musicals on the West End in London. I couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable, visionary partner with whom to lead The Playwrights Realm as we begin our ninth season."

"I have been a fan of The Playwrights Realm for many years," said Roberta Pereira, "I have rarely seen a theater taking such bold risks on early-career artists. The Realm has accomplished an astonishing amount in its short history, and I couldn't be happier to join Katherine and the rest of the team to explore even more ways to serve our community of artists."
