The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held yesterday afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners were announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Robert Harling's screenplay to the iconic film THE FIRST WIVES CLUB will come alive in New York on July 7th, 2014 at 8pm for a one night-only benefit reading in the Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), directed by Trip Cullman and featuring an all-star cast. All proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund's Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative, which provides 'a safety net and a place to turn when women in the creative community are faced with critical health concerns.'

Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, just gave an added performance to benefit The Actors Fund last night, April 27 at 8:00 PM. The company of Beautiful donated their time and talent for the performance, for an audience which included cast members from current Broadway shows and other areas of the entertainment community. All proceeds will go to The Actors Fund, which helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the special night below!
ROCKY, which opened Thursday, March 13th at the historic Winter Garden Theatre, stars Andy Karl as Rocky, Margo Seibert as Adrian (making her Broadway debut), and Terence Archie as Apollo Creed. Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.
ROCKY's Tony Award Winning composing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty will join the Drama League's Up Close Series on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:00PM at the Drama League Theatre Center (32 Avenues of the Americas).
