The Lakewood Playhouse presents its 7th Annual a?oeSpeciala?? Joint Presentation with its very own Lakewood Institute of Theatre a?' a?oePIPPI LONGSTOCKINGa?? for 8 SHOWS ONLY!

Impending Executive Director of Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) Leon Seemann and exiting Artistic Director Michael J. Bobbitt announce the full line-up and all-female directing team for the 2019-2020 Season.

The tale of a stuffed rabbit who longs to be real has charmed readers of all ages for more than a century. The Velveteen Rabbit will be the final show of South Coast Repertory's Theatre for Young Audiences season.

Pat Wilhelms, Artistic Director for Roanoke Children's Theatre, is proud to announce the upcoming selection of plays for the Company's 12th Season. For over a decade, RCT has been the valley's only professional theatre designed specifically for children, schools and families. Continuing the motto of "Bigger and Better at the Jefferson Center," the 2019-2020 Season will be packed with plenty of fan favorites and classics.

Producers of 'The Gruffalo' and the writer of the BBC and Netflix series “Watership Down” are adapting  “The Velveteen Rabbit” for TV, according to Variety. Magic Light Pictures and Tom Bidwell are currently in development on the project and have begun talks with broadcasters. 

Based on the 1922 classic children's book by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit, or How Toys Become Real, tells the story of a toy rabbit who longs for nothing more than to be real. With a script, music, and lyrics written by NBYT Musical Director and Teaching Artist Angela Klimaytis, this magical story explores themes of friendship, love, and overcoming insecurity-all coming to life in a world with plenty of talking toys, a magical nursery fairy, real rabbits, one very real boy, and many others! The play stars twenty-two children ages 6 through 16 from throughout Connecticut, and it is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is sponsor of the production.

Derby Dinner Playhouse will open the holiday musical A VELVETEEN RABBIT CHRISTMAS on November 17, 2018 as part of their Children's Musical Theatre Series.

We all have those special toys that became real to us as children. I still have my old teddy bear (who's older than I am) who sits in a place of honor in my living room. This is probably why Margery Williams' classic story "The Velveteen Rabbit" resonated with so many of us. I know it did for me. And now Seattle Children's Theatre in association with Unicorn Theatre (UK) have brought us Williams' beautiful tale for the stage and the magic and wonder and Awww factor of it all couldn't be greater.

"Real isn't how you are made, but it's something that happens to you." Based on the award-winning children's book by Margery Williams, this world premiere musical follows the journey of a toy rabbit on its quest to becoming real. As a gift to a boy, the Velveteen Rabbit lives in a nursery surrounded by modern, mechanical toys. The rabbit is made to feel plain, but soon learns that there is much more to being "real" that outward appearances.

South Coast Repertory opens the 2018-19 Theatre for Young Audiences series with Nate the Great, Nov. 2-18.

The first of three Monday evening new-play readings at South Coast Repertory for the 2018-19 season will be Eureka Day by Jonathan Spector. The NewSCRipts reading on Monday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., is directed by Jennifer Chambers. Tickets are available at www.scr.org.
