Roanoke Children's Theatre Announces 2019-2020 Season

Pat Wilhelms, Artistic Director for Roanoke Children's Theatre, is proud to announce the upcoming selection of plays for the Company's 12th Season. For over a decade, RCT has been the valley's only professional theatre designed specifically for children, schools and families. Continuing the motto of "Bigger and Better at the Jefferson Center," the 2019-2020 Season will be packed with plenty of fan favorites and classics.

TV Adaptation of THE VELVETEEN RABBIT in the Works

Producers of 'The Gruffalo' and the writer of the BBC and Netflix series “Watership Down” are adapting  “The Velveteen Rabbit” for TV, according to Variety. Magic Light Pictures and Tom Bidwell are currently in development on the project and have begun talks with broadcasters. 

No Boundaries Youth Theater Stages THE VELVETEEN RABBIT

Based on the 1922 classic children's book by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit, or How Toys Become Real, tells the story of a toy rabbit who longs for nothing more than to be real. With a script, music, and lyrics written by NBYT Musical Director and Teaching Artist Angela Klimaytis, this magical story explores themes of friendship, love, and overcoming insecurity-all coming to life in a world with plenty of talking toys, a magical nursery fairy, real rabbits, one very real boy, and many others! The play stars twenty-two children ages 6 through 16 from throughout Connecticut, and it is appropriate for audiences of all ages. The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is sponsor of the production.

BWW Review: Seattle Children's Theatre Amps Up the Awww Factor with THE VELVETEEN RABBIT

We all have those special toys that became real to us as children. I still have my old teddy bear (who's older than I am) who sits in a place of honor in my living room. This is probably why Margery Williams' classic story "The Velveteen Rabbit" resonated with so many of us. I know it did for me. And now Seattle Children's Theatre in association with Unicorn Theatre (UK) have brought us Williams' beautiful tale for the stage and the magic and wonder and Awww factor of it all couldn't be greater.

Hale Center Theater Orem to Produce To Produce THE VELVETEEN RABBIT

"Real isn't how you are made, but it's something that happens to you." Based on the award-winning children's book by Margery Williams, this world premiere musical follows the journey of a toy rabbit on its quest to becoming real. As a gift to a boy, the Velveteen Rabbit lives in a nursery surrounded by modern, mechanical toys. The rabbit is made to feel plain, but soon learns that there is much more to being "real" that outward appearances.

South Coast Repertory Sets Reading Of EURAKA DAY By Jonathan Spector

The first of three Monday evening new-play readings at South Coast Repertory for the 2018-19 season will be Eureka Day by Jonathan Spector. The NewSCRipts reading on Monday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., is directed by Jennifer Chambers. Tickets are available at www.scr.org.

ODC/Dance Announces Its 2018-2019 Season

ODC/Dance, San Francisco's internationally recognized contemporary dance company, announces its 48th home season in both traditional theaters and unconventional venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, September 2018 through August 2019. The company continues last season's 'Dance Around Town' initiative, with performances in public parks, churches, city streets, in San Francisco and East Bay venues, as well as in the company's home, ODC Theater.
