MCC Theater Announces Fall PLAYLAB READINGS 10/18, 10/25, 11/8

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) has announced the line-up for their Fall 2010 PlayLab play readings of three new plays by members of the company's Playwrights' Coalition: Jason Chimonides, Adam Szymkowicz and Gary Sunshine, to be held on October 18, 25 and November 8, 2010.

South Coast Rep Presents BECKY SHAW, 10/22-11/21

A newly married couple finds their own relationship on the rocks after they set up their friends on a date from hell in Gina Gionfriddo's wicked comedy Becky Shaw, a West Coast premiere that will run Oct. 22 through Nov. 21 at South Coast Repertory.

Roth Transfers DIVINE SISTER to Soho Playhouse; Begins Previews 9/12

Producer Daryl Roth announces that following a sold out developmental run last spring, THE DIVINE SISTER, the new comedy written by and starring Charles Busch, directed by Carl Andress, will transfer to the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) featuring the entire original company: Alison Fraser, Amy Rutberg, Jennifer Van Dyck, Jonathan Walker, and Julie Halston.

Chimo, Jelks Join Duchovny in THE BREAK OF NOON, 10/28-12/12

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced that Tracee Chimo (Circle Mirror Transformation) and Tony Award-Nominee John Earl Jelks (Radio Golf) have joined the cast of the world premiere of The Break of Noon by Neil LaBute.

South Coast Repertory Presents MISALLIANCE, 9/10-10/10

All the wrong men chase all the wrong women in Misalliance, an exuberant comedy from George Bernard Shaw that opens South Coast Repertory's 47th season. This witty classic, helmed by SCR Artistic Director Martin Benson, runs Sept. 10 through Oct. 10 on the Segerstrom Stage.

SCR Presents IN THE NEXT ROOM, 9/26-10/17

Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room or the vibrator play will heat up South Coast Repertory's Julianne Argyros Stage Sept. 26 through Oct. 17. The Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee is set in the Victorian era, just before its corseted women shed their inhibitions. Dr. Givings (Andrew Borba) is having tremendous success with a new electric invention designed to alleviate the symptoms of 'female hysteria.' But the noises in the adjoining room spark the curiosity of his wife, Catherine (Kathleen Early), a lonely new mother eager for intimacy. Her investigation into the doctor's work leads to friendships with a couple of patients, the high-strung Sabrina Daldry (Rebecca Mozo) and the artist Leo Irving (Ron Menzel), and ultimately to a new relationship with her husband.

Gilliam, Waterston Lead Commonwealth Shakespeare Co's OTHELLO, Closes 8/15

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) is pleased to announce thecasting for the company's 15 th annual free Shakespeare on the Common production, WilliamShakespeare's immortal drama, Othello, directed by CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler. Othello will be performed at the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common from July 28 to August 15.

MCC Theater Announces FreshPlay Fest Line-Up

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced its annual FreshPlay Festival of new plays by members of the youth company. The FreshPlay Festival merges the voices and creativity of urban youth with the experience of professionals, creating provocative, innovative and fresh theater. This year, the FreshPlay Festival will focus on the workshop process with ten original plays penned by MCC Theater Youth Company playwrights. These young writers will work with a roster of professional directors, actors and peers from the Youth Company's Acting Lab.

South Coast Rep Adds World Premiere COMPLETENESS to 2010-11 Season

South Coast Repertory has added the world premiere production of Itamar Moses' romantic comedy Completeness to its 2010-2011 season. The play delighted audiences during its reading at SCR's Pacific Playwright's Festival earlier this year under the direction of Pam MacKinnon, who will also direct this production.

Paula Brancati, Lauren Collins, Wendy Crewson, Cynthia Dale, Andrea Martin, and Louise Pitre are officially set to be the first cast of the Toronto production of LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE. As in the initial New York staging of the play by Nora and Delia Ephron, the production will feature a company of six that rotates in four-week cycles. The next cast will be announced in the next upcoming weeks.

David Duchovny Makes Stage Debut In MCC's THE BREAK OF NOON

Long Wharf Theatre to Present HAVE YOU SEEN US? Reading in DC, 6/9

The Faith & Politics Institute will present the Long Wharf Theatre production of HAVE YOU SEEN US?, written by master playwright Athol Fugard, in a one-night only staged reading Wednesday, June 9 at 6 p.m. at Folger Theatre, located at 201 East Capitol Street, Washington, D.C. The reading will be followed by a panel discussion with Mr. Fugard, director Gordon Edelstein, and the cast. The evening's Honorary Host is the Honorable Rep. Rosa DeLauro and NPR's legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg will moderate the panel discussion.

SCR Presents BEN AND THE MAGIC PAINTBRUSH 5/21-6/6

A pair of plucky orphans fall into the clutches of a greedy couple in the final installment of SCR's 2009-2010 Theatre for Young Audiences season. Ben and the Magic Paintbrush, adapted by Bathsheba Doran from a Chinese folk tale, has its world premiere May 21 through June 6 on the Julianne Argyros stage.
