The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival (LAWTF) marks 26 years of producing well over 500 extraordinary multicultural and multidisciplinary solo performers from around the globe.

The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) announced winners of its 6th Annual MUAHS Awards in 21 categories of film, television, commercials and live theater, during a formal gala at the Novo by Microsoft at L.A. Live Downtown on Saturday night, February 16, 2019.  Winners in the Feature Motion Pictures categories include A Star is Born, Vice,Crazy Rich Asians and Mary Queen of Scots. Television winners included The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, American Horror Story: Apocalypse, Westworld and Dancing with the Stars. For the categories of Motion Picture Made for Television, winners include King Lear, Cocaine Godmother and Jesus Christ Superstar: Live and in Concert. 

Roger and Lynn Neal, Founder and Chairman of the annual Oscar night event, will be hosting, along with their partners Maryanne and Thomas Lai , the 4th Annual ROGER NEAL OSCAR VIEWING DINNER, SUITE AND AFTER PARTY which will take place on Oscar Sunday Feb 24th, 2019 at the World Famous Hollywood Palladium.

I cannot even think of enough accolades to share about the current production being staged by Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles) through December 9. The totally entertaining and artistically brilliant production, directed and choreographed by NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk, pulled me in from the moment it started until the end, given the amazingly talented cast who bring the characters so realistically to life that you can actually feel all the emotions each is going through from moment to moment. You will laugh, be fearful, cry and celebrate with all of them by the time the show ends.

But then I heard a big voice belt, 'IT'S SUNDAY!' and snapped to attention like it was time to get up and get to church. It was. With that crack of thunder, three tell-it-like-it-is church ladies led their ensemble to the stage...

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the network premiere of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” getTV will air the wildly popular action-adventure series starring Chuck Norris, beginning June 4. Episodes will be broadcast weekdays from 2:00PM to 6:00PM ET/1-5C and Sundays from 5:00PM-10PM ET/4-7C.

Kicking off Women's History Month; ESSENCE turned the spotlight on four remarkable women, during Oscar week, with its popular “BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS,” held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Returning to its traditional daytime luncheon, the ESSENCE “BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS” was hosted by actress Yvonne Orji.  This year's program honored actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish; actress Danai Gurira; Emmy-Award winning writer and director Lena Waithe and actress and activist Tessa Thompson.  For the fourth consecutive year, the ESSENCE“BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS” will air as a primetime special on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on March 3, 2018 at 10 pm ET/PT.

August Wilson's hard-hitting 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' opened September 11 and continues through October 16, 2016, at the Center Theatre Group/ Mark Taper Forum. The new Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE opened just last night, December 10, at theBernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W 45th Street). Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe award winner Jennifer Hudson makes her Broadway debut opposite Cynthia Erivo, the breakout star of John Doyle's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory production, and Orange is the New Black's Danielle Brooks, in the highly anticipated production of The Color Purple. The 16th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival presented by BET Networks announced today that the BET Premiere Cinema film 'BEING MARY JANE' - an original made for television movie and pilot from the powerhouse couple behind 'Sparkle' and 'The Game' - will serve as the festival's Opening Night film on Thursday, September 20.

During its annual Upfront presentation to the advertising community, BET Networks, the leading provider of content to black consumers globally, will reveal its new programming content including scripted programs and original movies for both BET and CENTRIC as well as new web series for BET.com.
