Culture Project Presents 'And God Created Great Whales,' Beginning 2/7

Now considered a prominent venue for award winning theatre, Culture Project had its humble beginnings in a former piano manufacturing factory on East 91st Street. It then moved to a lumberyard at 45 Bleecker Street which it converted into a two-theater performing arts center with Bombitty of Errors and And God Created Great Whales as its initial attractions. Now Culture Project has officially returned to 45 Bleecker making it its permanent home, and will present And God Created Great Whales, the innovative piece that launched the Culture Project into prominence over a decade ago.
Guthrie Theatre Screens DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL Film, 10/15

The Guthrie Theater announced today that it will offer two free screenings of the Vuguru film Don't Ask, Don't Tell on Saturday, October 15 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie. Eric Rosen, artistic director of Kansas City Repertory Theatre, has added CABARET to the Rep's 2010-11 season lineup. Rosen will direct the Tony Award-winning musical written by two of America's most distinguished and prolific songwriters, Kansas City native John Kander and Fred Ebb, with a book by Joe Masteroff.

Dance/Theatre Features 5 New Works at Diversionary, 1/27-29

Five local choreographers will each create a new dance work for Diversionary Theatre's special event, Dance/Theatre 2011, with four performances, January 27-29, 2011. The project was conceived by Peter G. Kalivas of The PGK Project in conjunction with Diversionary's Executive & Artistic Director Dan Kirsch. This is the third edition of the project. Dance/Theatre merges theatre and dance audiences while presenting universal stories through dance inspired by productions previously staged by Diversionary. 'Diversionary has a long history of creating new work, and this project is a great way to connect to the dance community,' said Kirsch. 'We're always excited about the imagination the choreographers bring to interpreting a stage work.'
