Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Obie, Helen Hayes and GLAAD award-winner Marc Wolf's solo show Another American: Asking and Telling has been extended. The acclaimed work will play an additional month of consecutive Mondays with added performances every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m., beginning September 12 (There will be no performances on September 5 and 6). Performances began Monday, July 12, and will now run through Monday, October 4 at the DR2 Theatre (103 E. 15th Street, NYC). A portion of the proceeds support various charitable organizations including The Elton John AIDS Foundation, GMHC, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and The Point Foundation.

The New Yorker is calling this current production "a stirring testimony and a masterwork, still relevant and deserving a much wider audience." This week, New York Magazine hails the show as a "timely and powerful revival." (Reviewers will be receiving invitations to attend the extended performances).

Daryl Roth commented, "The outpouring of support for Marc's powerful work, and the relevance of this message has instantly made this production an important part of the landscape. We're excited to be able to offer a wider audience the opportunity to see this timely piece of theater."

With original direction by Joe Mantello, Another American: Asking and Telling takes the audience on a national tour of sexual politics, the American military, sanctioned discrimination, and its human fallout. Distilled from over one hundred and fifty interviews with straight, gay and lesbian military personnel (from World War II veterans to anonymous service members serving today), in addition to civil rights lawyers, federal judges, professors and politicians, Wolf portrays a community of characters struggling with the government's ban on gays and lesbians in the armed forces.
