Members Of NYC's Theatre Community Salute Black Lives Matter With New Public Service Announcement

As part of its commitment to racial equity and inclusion, the Episcopal Actors Guild (EAG) is premiering its original public service announcement, EAG Loves BLM, on Monday, February 1, 2021. The PSA will be available on YouTube and on EAG's Facebook and Instagram pages. The Lambs has announced the launch of a multi-year program of conservation and preservation of its large art collection, a first step as the private club prepares to celebrate its sesquicentennial in December 2024. On August 11th, The Lambs welcomes back five pieces to its clubhouse at 3 West 51st Street, it's home for 45 years.

At a 'Monday Night at The Lambs,' The Lambs - in conjunction with Harvardwood - held an evening with special guest Anita Gillette. Anita spoke about her long and varied career in theater, film and television, recalling many personal moments along the way. Interviewed by Foster Hirsch, author of 16 books on theater and film and professor at Brooklyn College, Anita shared many of her experiences from her lengthy and impressive career, which includes 14 Broadway shows. Accompanied by pianist Paul Greenwood, Anita performed several songs to the enthusiastic audience. She spoke about the many people she has worked with, including Lambs' members Irving Berlin and Hal Prince.

The Lambs Exhibit Short Films Not Seen In Nearly A Century

In the early 1930's, The Lambs created 2-reel comedy short films with Columbia Pictures. These shorts were created as a means to raise fund for the Club during the Great Depression. Most of these films have never been seen in almost a century. The films offer a rare historical look at The Lambs, its famous members and activities. The presentation included: Shave it with Music (1932), The Curse of the Broken Heart (1933), Poor Fish (1933) and Hear'em and Weep (1931).

The Lambs and The Lambs Foundation pride themselves in creating an atmosphere that encourages the creative spirit by providing a "place where they come to enjoy each others' company, and to display and hone their crafts in an atmosphere of creativity and support, and to nurture creative endeavors." That's part of our mission statement. Last night, June 26, 2018, was a perfect example when a staged reading of The Neverwuzez went up before a packed house at The Lambs.
