The hit production of TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will re-open at the Aldwych Theatre on 28 July 2021 following over a year of shutdown across the West End.

Jeff Kiltie, general manager of Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, stage manager, producer and member of Actors' Equity Association, and co-chair of this year's Carbonell Special Committee. With more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of the performing arts industry, he will also serve as chair of the board's Production & Programming Committee.

Modernism in Mexico explores string quartets by some of Mexico's most important 20th century composers: Manuel Ponce, Silvestre Revueltas, and Carlos Chávez. Ponce was Mexico's leading classical musician, and this performance of his well-known song Estrellita is a new arrangement for string quartet. Carlos Chávez was his student and heir apparent, touring extensively as a conductor and producing an impressive body of compositions.

The associate director is James Cousins, with set designs by Vicki Mortimer, costumes designed by Khadija Raza, lighting by Jon Clark, sound by Gareth Fry and music supervised by George Fenton. 

Minneapolis native, rapper, singer and writer Dessa is now adding playwright to her list of titles. She has written and is starring in an audio play ON THE LINE, part of UK company 45North’s Written on the Waves season, and the show premieres tonight (June 25, 2021). She shared some thoughts on the play and her career in this Q&A.

The twentieth anniversary of New York City's Tribeca Film Festival began on June 9th and went through June 20th. Much like the characters struggling to piece together their identities in In The Heights, and much like—I suspect—Miranda himself at the time of writing this story, I have never felt more pride in my hometown than now, in my young adulthood.

In adapting Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical, I felt that Jon Chu did a spectacular job taking on this crucial story while also taking charge of his creative choices. The movie stands alone from the musical not only because of the different mediums used to express this story but also because the people working on the movie were able to put their own perspective on it. However, the movie still exhibits, in my opinion, the soul of what this musical is about -- bringing focus to an underrepresented community that has so much love, resilience, and determination. 

The North Fork TV Festival announced today Tony Nominated and Emmy and Grammy Award winner Christopher Jackson has been named this year’s Ambassador to the Arts recipient. A formal dinner ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 5 at American Beech in Greenport, NY beginning at 6:30pm.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced today that they will present three Special Tony Awards to The Broadway Advocacy Coalition; David Byrne’s American Utopia and Freestyle Love Supreme.
