Due to overwhelming demand the Fugard Theatre is proud to announce five additional performances of THE SHADOW OF THE HUMMINGBIRD, the beautiful play presented by Eric Abraham and the Fugard Theatre that stars Athol Fugard himself and introduces Marviantos Baker, from 27 to 30 August 2014. This will be the very final chance audiences will have to see this remarkable production.

The greatest thing about THE SHADOW OF THE HUMMINGBIRD is seeing South African theatre legend, Athol Fugard, back on stage. It is an event that I never thought I would see come to pass in my lifetime; that it happened is something for which I will always be grateful.

Due to popular demand, three matinee performances have been added to the season of THE SHADOW OF THE HUMMINGBIRD that sees South African playwright and theatre icon Athol Fugard take to the stage for the first time in 15 years. The production will be presented by Eric Abraham and the Fugard Theatre from 10 to 26 July 2014.

Presented by the Baxter Theatre Centre at the University of Cape Town, this quietly compelling play gives us a micro-level glimpse into post-apartheid South Africa. A glimpse, I might add, that's very much worth your attention whether you happen to be a South Africa scholar, lover of all things theatrical, or simply someone who appreciates fine acting and playwriting every now and again.

Presented by Cape Town Opera, Show Boat is a musical of the old American South, rich with nostalgia, humour, love stories and well-loved melodies such as Ol' Man River and Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man. This ever-popular critically acclaimed musical will be on stage at the Opera House at Artscape, Cape Town for four performances only from 16 to 18 May 2014 before the production tours the United Kingdom from 2 July to 2 August 2014. Vital Theatre Company will bring back THE BULLY, with music and lyrics by John Gregor, book by David L. Williams, and directed by Linda Ames Key. The show will run Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 1pm beginning January 14th through February 26th, 2012, with weekday school holiday performances on January 16th and 27th and February 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd at 11am and 1pm.
