Bourgere (THE CRUCIBLE, A RAISIN IN THE SUN) will be featured in the world premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE, an original work fusing dance, drama and music by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony Award nominee playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT). The musical is based on the 1973 film, and will have its world premiere at Paper Mill Playhouse for a limited run from March 29 through April 29, 2018, with book by Bob Martin, music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann &Greg Kotis with Harry Connick, Jr. In addition, the score will contain music by Scott Joplin including 'The Entertainer.'

Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $50,000 to San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater(A.C.T.) to support the upcoming Bay Area premiere of Qui Nguyen's Vietgone, playing at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market St.) February 21-April 22, 2018, and the development of community outreach events in connection with the production.
