Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces the return of in-person performances at the Theater’s home on Navy Pier with the much-awaited debut of As You Like It infused with the hit songs of The Beatles, beginning October 6, 2021. 

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre will stage Anna Deavere Smith’s award-winning one-woman play TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992 from September 16 – 26, 2021, with Chicago actress Jazzma Pryor portraying nearly four-dozen people who were connected either directly or indirectly to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Diversionary Theatre has announced their Season 36 lineup of new LGBTQ work. With 4 new works on The Robert L. Granat and Albert J. Mazur Mainstage exploring how our LGBTQ family defines home, Diversionary welcomes the community back to their newly renovated theatre home, and their new social and performance venue The Austin & Joann Clark Cabaret.

The Muny announced today the 12 extraordinary dancers and singers for its third show of its 103rd Season, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, August 12-18. Victory Gardens Theater will welcome Marisa Carr, Keelay Gipson, Isaac Gómez and Stacey Rose as the new members of the Victory Gardens Playwrights Ensemble. The Ensemble will be members for a three-year term, through 2024.

Yale Repertory Theatre will welcome audiences back to its theaters beginning in January 2022 for a season of three plays! The season will begin with a new production of Today is My Birthday, a critically-acclaimed comedy about loneliness in the age of connectivity, written by Susan Soon He Stanton and directed by Mina Morita.

Dorset Theatre Festival will open its 44th season with a revival of Christopher Durang's comedy Laughing Wild outdoors at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, VT.

Theatre Communications Group has announced the recipients of the first round of the 2021 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,072,000, allow 28 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

The Obie Award-winning Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC) released its 10th annual report today,”THE VISIBILITY REPORT: RACIAL REPRESENTATION ON NEW YORK CITY STAGES,” covering employment statistics by race for all shows that opened on Broadway and at the 18 largest non-profit theatre companies in the 2018-19 New York season.
