POLKADOTS: The Cool Kids Musical, a new musical celebrating the diversity among children, will have a private industry reading today, August 28th, in New York City. Creator Douglas Lyons (Five Points: An American Musical) is the show's lyricist and co-composed the score alongside Greg Borowsky (Sony ATV). The book is by Melvin Tunstall III.
On August 28th the completely original new show Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical will get it's first private industry readings in NYC. The all-star cast features Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening) as Sky Square, Brittney Johnson (Beautiful) as Lily Polkadot, Talia Thiesfield (HBO's Veep) as Penelope Square and Russell Arden Koplin (Les Miserables) as Mrs. Square/Mama Square.
FIVE POINTS: an American musical, with book by Harrison David Rivers, lyrics by Douglas Lyons and music by Douglas Lyons and Ethan Pakchar, has been in residence at the Musical Theatre Factory August 4th-10th. The residency will culminate in a development sharing on August 10th with a cast that features Mike Backes ('Orange is the New Black'), Seth Eliser, RB Embleton, Alexa Green (Wicked), Katie Lee Hill (Claudio Quest), Amber Iman (Soul Doctor), Frank Manda, T. Oliver Reid (After Midnight), Noah J. Ricketts (Beautiful), Eric Stephenson, Katie Thompson (Giant), Morissa Trunzo and Kevin Worley (On the Town). FIVE POINTS is directed by Mark Schneider (Beautiful, Annie, Billy Elliot) with music direction by Madeline Smith (The Light Princess, An Octoroon).
The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents a developmental reading of Windywoo and Her Naughty Naughty Pets, a new musical based on the popular Naughty Naughty Pets franchise, featured on Cartoon Network and Disney's Hyperion Books for Children. The developmental readings will take place July 11 at 1pm and July 13 at 4pm and 7pm at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).

Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown is the Blodgett Artist in Residence at the Harvard University Department of Music for the spring term and he gave the equivalent of a master class last night at Oberon.
