The much anticipated Disney adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS stays relatively true to the original musical but does omit some songs and modifies some of the plotlines.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, INTO THE WOODS will come in at $46.1 plus million for the 4 day weekend. This puts it in third for the weekend box office, behind THE HOBBIT at $54.5 million and UNBROKEN at $47.3 million.

This just in from Variety! INTO THE WOODS opened strong with midnight showings last night of $1.1 million dollars. By comparison, ANNIE opened with $360,000 last week. According to the paper, 'Box office trackers expect INTO THE WOODS to finish the four-day Christmas weekend with $26 million to $29 million domestically.'

The lush orchestrations, the gorgeous settings, and the spectacular cast had a smile plastered on my face from the film's first note until its last.
