The annual New York City Cabaret Convention -- conceived, launched, and brilliantly sustained for the past 23 seasons by The Mabel Mercer Foundation --has honored many specific people and events across the past two decades. Legendary performers, composers, lyricists, and their anniversaries have all had their day and their due as the Convention grew in visibility, stature, and acclaim.

Jennifer Sheehan reprises her critically acclaimed '60s show, "I Know a Place," for three nights in October at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street.

On November 5th at 7 pm, the Theatre at Saint Peters (Home of the York Theatre) Lexington Avenue at 54th Street will resound with the songs of Larry Kerchner ("Somewhere in Time") sung by some of today's most formidable singers: Headliner: Ann Hampton Callaway, Hilary Kole, Laurel Masse, Kevin Spirtas, Stacy Sullivan, Jeff Harnar, Eric Comstock & Barbara Fasano, Karen Oberlin, La Tanya Hall, Sidney Myer, Raissa Katona Bennett, Jill O'Hara and a host of others. Musical Director is Tex Arnold. The event is produced by Sandi Durell.

Caroline Sorokoff Associate Director of the Great Neck Arts Center has announced that KT Sullivan, United States Congressman Gary Ackerman, author Nelson DeMille and and a local arts philanthropist will be honored at this years Gala which will be held Oct. 24th at the Gold Coast estate Oheka Castle on Long Island, which was commissioned by Otto Kahn.

On Monday, October 1, the Friars Club presented 'Remembering the Oak Room: A musical tribute by its headliners.' In four performances at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, Dain premieres "The Magic of Mathis," bringing fresh interpretations to Johnny Mathis signature songs. Contributing creative arrangements is Dain's frequent collaborator, Musical Director Kathleen Landis. The multi-award winning director/entertainer Lennie Watts directs. Performances are Saturdays, September 8 & 15 at 7pm, and Fridays, September 21 & 28 at 7pm.
