BWW Review: THE NETHER Disturbs and Delights at the Alley

THE NETHER is a chilling tale about how the division between technology and our lives begin to blur, and the ethical consequences that result when access to this technology fall into the wrong hands. Engaging performances from an all-star cast, unique character development, notable set and lighting designs, and intricate storytelling had me on the edge of my seat for its 85 minute run time.

Another treat in the midst of cold weather for Houstonians- Portman & Wright's THE LITTLE PRINCE, the second opera in HGO's holiday series. The two act opera, sung entirely in English, is based on French literary giant Antoine de Saint-Exupery's fantastical novella of the same name. A pilot, hopelessly stranded in the desert, makes the acquaintance of a Little Prince and, in their journey to safety, the two meet a cast of colorful characters and spark up an unlikely friendship.

Palmer; and Alexander Tochilovsky of Cooper Union discussing graphic design-related materials in the exhibition, Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television. Like any modern production of Wagner's Ring Cycle, Houston Grand Opera is sparing no expense. At Sunday's matinee, the audience leapt to their feet for curtain call and clamored excitedly about this show and what's still to come in the cycle.
