Richard Nelson's THE GABRIELS Pushes Opening by a Week in D.C.

The highly anticipated Washington, D.C. premiere run of the critically acclaimed new plays, The Gabriels: Election Year in the Life of One Family, will now begin on January 7, 2017 rather than the previously announced date of January 3, due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

It can be safely assumed that the majority of playgoers filing into The Public's LuEsther Theater for the 7:30 opening night performance of author/director Richard Nelson's Women Of a Certain Age on Tuesday night took their seats expecting to see Hillary Clinton declared the President-Elect of The United States sometime during the party that followed.

Written and directed by Nelson, WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE is the third and final play of the three-play cycle, THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family and runs through Sunday, December 4. All three plays will run in repertory on Saturday, December 10; Sunday, December 11; Wednesday, December 14; Saturday, December 17; and Sunday, December 18. The Public Theater officially opened the world premiere of WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? on Friday, September 16. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, play two of THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson, began previews on Saturday, September 10 and has been extended through October 9. Tony-winning writer and director Richard Nelson returns to The Public with the next play in his new three-play cycle, THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family. The second play, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, brings us back to the kitchen of the Gabriel family, with the country now in the midst of the general election for president. In the course of one evening in the house they grew up in, history (both theirs and our country's), money, politics, family, art and culture are chopped up and mixed together, while a meal is made around the kitchen table. WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE, will track the lives of the Gabriels throughout the coming presidential election year with the final play opening in real time on Election Night, November 8, 2016.

The Public Extends Richard Nelson's HUNGRY

The Public Theater announced a final one-week extension today for HUNGRY, continuing Oskar Eustis' 10th Anniversary season. Play one, part of THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson, HUNGRY officially opened on Friday, March 4 and has now been extended a final week through Sunday, April 3. Featuring the same core acting company for all three productions, the second play in the cycle, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, will premiere in September and the final play in the new cycle, WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE, will open on election night, November 8, 2016.

Richard Nelson's HUNGRY Opens Tonight at The Public

The Public Theater presents HUNGRY, now through Sunday, March 27, as part of Oskar Eustis' 10th Anniversary season. Play one, part of THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson, HUNGRY officially opens tonight, March 4.
