RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL Extends Off-Broadway

Due to overwhelming demand, the producers of the Off-Broadway smash, Ruthless! The Musical, today put a new block of seats on sale through June 18th.

Photo Flash: Bernadette Peters and More Celebrate RUTHLESS! Creators' Wedding

Longtime partners and the creators of the hit musical RUTHLESS!, Marvin Laird and Joel Paley, were married in a private ceremony this past Sunday, November 1st. It was truly a family affair with two of the producers, Maxine Paul and Evan Sacks, standing up for the resplendent grooms as maid of honor and best man respectively. (Reports remain spotty on precisely who stood up for whom.) The initial announcement of the nuptials occurred at the July 13th opening night of RUTHLESS! when Paley proposed to Laird while making a celebratory toast at the post-performance party. Sunday's wedding was held at the beautiful home of the show's third producer, Ken Schur, and his lovely and charming wife Janet. Attendees included Bernadette Peters, Lynn Cohen and select A-listers from the RUTHLESS! company. Scroll down for photos!

Tony Winner Adriane Lenox to Lead Reading of Revamped THE TESTAMENT OF MARY

Tony Award winner Adriane Lenox (Doubt, Tony Award) will headline a starry industry reading of a re-conceptualization of The Testament of Mary on October 1st. Conceived and directed by Michael Rader (A Christmas Story, Cirque du Soleil, Stalking The Bogeymen), this new adaptation of Colm Toibin's The Testament of Mary will feature five different women sharing the title role of Mary, each representing how different cultures around the world view Mary.

Kathryn Kates Replaces Lynn Cohen in LETTERS TO SALA at TBG Theatre

The stage and television actress Kathryn Kates will play the title role in 'Letters to Sala,' Arlene Hutton's stirring drama about a New York woman's hidden Holocaust past. Lynn Cohen was previously announced to portray Sala Garncarz, who kept her story of survival from seven Nazi labor camps hidden from her family for nearly 50 years.

Cast Set for American Premiere of TRUCK STOP at Crowded Fire Theater This Fall

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT) is pleased to announce the cast and creative team and dates for the American Premiere of TRUCK STOP by Lachlan Philpott, opening Monday October 5, 8 pm running through October 24 at the Thick House in San Francisco's Potrero Hill. Directed by Marilee Talkington, this production marks Lachlan Philpott's first fully produced play in the United States. Philpott is an award-winning playwright in Australia whose plays have been extensively developed at American theaters including San Francisco's ACT, Crowded Fire Theater and the Magic.

Lost in Yonkers  opened at Barrington Stage Company last night and BroadwayWorld was there. The show is running through August 1. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize, Lost in Yonkers is a heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age story by America's great comic playwright, Neil Simon.  Jenn Thompson makes her BSC directing debut.  She is the Co-Artistic Director of The Actors Company Theatre (TACT) in NYC, where she recently directed Beth Henley's Abundance.

ANNIE HALL, KRAMER V KRAMER Among Reel 13's July Lineup

The Reel 13 summer schedule opens on July 4 with Robert Benton's drama Kramer vs. Kramer about a just-divorced career man who must learn to take care of his son on his own and then must fight in court to keep custody of him.

Lynn Cohen to Lead Barrington Stage Company's LOST IN YONKERS

 Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, will present Neil Simon's award-winning comedy Lost in Yonkers from July 16 to August 1.  The press opening is Sunday, July 19 at 5pm.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing professionals, presented the 5th annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards on June 16th at Sardi's, honoring outstanding achievement in Off Broadway theatre for the 2014 - 2015 season. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Arthur Gelb, Judith Malina and Marian Seldes were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.

Lynn Cohen to Lead LETTERS TO SALA at TBG Theatre

Lynn Cohen ("Sex in the City" and "The Hunger Games") has been cast in the title role of "Letters to Sala," Arlene Hutton's stirring drama about a New York family coming to grips with the sudden disclosure of its matriarch's hidden Holocaust past.  Co-produced by The Journey Company and F.A.B. Women@TBG, "Letters to Sala" will have its New York premiere at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, in a three-week engagement from October 3 to 18.  Directed by Eric Nightengale, "Letters to Sala" will also feature Alice Jankell and Laura Kamin who represent the family's second and third generation survivors.
