Performing arts and entertainment union Equity is urging Bristol City Council to drop plans to cut hundreds of thousands of pounds from the arts and culture budget.

Artists, including David Morrissey, urged the National Theatre to reinstate its primary school touring program, emphasizing its importance for arts education and community engagement.

Milton Keynes-based theatre company, The Play's The Thing, brings its four-day festival which celebrates inspirational women from theatre and the arts to Milton Keynes Gallery from 16th - 19th October.

Equity​, the performing arts and entertainment trade union, is calling on the forthcoming Prime Minister to adopt a 5-point plan to safeguard the future of the creative workforce. This includes abandoning Channel 4 privatisation, delivering sustainable long-term BBC funding, investing in the arts as part of Levelling Up, improving Universal Credit for creatives and protecting performers from unregulated artificial intelligence.

The production opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 10 September, with previews from 6 September, before embarking on a UK tour to Theatre Royal Nottingham, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, The Lowry Salford, Rose Theatre Kingston, Hackney Empire, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Oxford Playhouse, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford and Chichester Festival Theatre.
