Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner for the West Coast premiere of his latest play, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, an epic tale of love, family, sex, money, and politics. A portrait of a dysfunctional family filled with weighty dialogue, humor, and passion, Kushner's four-act play previews Friday, May 16, opens on Wednesday, May 21, and runs through Sunday, June 29, 2014.
BWW Reviews: Arden Theatre's WATER BY THE SPOONFUL is a Highly Moving Drama
by Kelli Curtin
- Jan 28, 2014
This is the time of year when theatres produce shows that are emotionally moving and contain though provoking content that will have audiences talking and thinking about what they have just experienced on stage for days. WATER BY THE SPOONFUL is no exception to this. This show will remind audiences about the meaning of family, both the one we are born into and the ones that we create, and it will keep audiences engaged long after the show is over. The Arden's production of WATER BY THE SPOONFUL is a highly emotional and moving drama; the show is a well-acted production that should not be missed.

- Jun 20, 2013
For the Arden's 26th Season of great stories by great storytellers, the company presents a daring and ambitious musical, dramas that grapple with the complicated notion of the American family, provocative pieces by contemporary playwrights, and a new approach to a classic text. Says Arden's Producing Artistic Director Terrence J. Nolen: "The 2013/14 season will include a remarkable range of stories by master storytellers. We are proud to produce the work of Jason Robert Brown, Lydia Diamond, and Alfred Uhry at the Arden for the first time, and are thrilled to welcome plays by Philadelphia writers Quiara Alegria Hudes and Michael Hollinger to our stages. The coming year also includes a new translation by Curt Columbus of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, and adaptations of Louis Sachar's Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat. Coming this fall, we will also open the Hamilton Family Arts Center, our new education and production center. We are thrilled by the prospect of creating our 2013/14 productions in this great new space.'
