Sean Musselman Named Artistic Director, Ballet Master at L'Académie of Dance as St. Petersburg Gains World Class Artistic Talent

L'Académie of Dance is proud to announce the appointment of Ballet Master and Artistic Director, Sean Musselman. Musselman studied at The School of American Ballet in New York City. There he had the rare opportunity to work under the legendary George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins (of the Broadway classic West Side Story fame) and with the Russian superstar Danseur Rudolph Nureyev.

Charles Bruffy Recognized With Signature Sinfonia Award

GRAMMY-award winning conductor Charles Bruffy achieved a career and personal milestone this past Saturday when he received the Signature Sinfonian award from the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. Founded in 1898 at the New England Conservatory of Music, Phi Mu Alpha is an American collegiate fraternity for men with a special interest in music. The Signature Sinfonian award is conferred upon Sinfonian members who have achieved a high standard of accomplishment in their field or profession, thereby bringing honor to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Other notable artists who have received the elite Signature Sinfonian award include Luciano Pavarotti, Branford Marsalis, Duke Ellington, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Robert Shaw, as well as entrepreneurs George Eastman and Andrew Carnegie.

L.A. Opera presents Company Premiere of THE PEARL FISHERS starring Nino Machaidze and Javier Camarena

General Director Pl cido Domingo has announced final details about LA Opera's company premiere of The Pearl Fishers, a rarely performed early work by Georges Bizet, the composer of Carmen. Mr. Domingo will conduct the first four performances of the opera (October 7, 15, 19 and 22), with the final two performances (October 25 and 28) conducted by Resident Conductor Grant Gershon. Performances will take place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012).

Acclaimed American soprano Ren e Fleming performs in recital with pianist Inon Barnatan on Monday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The program includes works by Brahms, Egon Kornauth, Andr Previn, selections from Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, and the world premiere of a new work by Caroline Shaw, commissioned by Carnegie Hall as part of its 125 Commissions Project.

San Francisco Opera Launches 95th Season with Opening Weekend Celebrations

San Francisco Opera inaugurated its 95th season with a weekend of celebrations and performances beginning on Friday, September 8 with two galas Opera Ball 2017 at The Imperial Palace and the BRAVO! CLUB Opening Night Gala and a performance of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot in artist David Hockney's colorful production. At the opera's conclusion, San Francisco Opera Music Director Nicola Luisotti, who conducted the performance, was awarded the San Francisco Opera Medal.

San Francisco Opera Celebrates 95th Season With Free OPERA IN THE PARK Concert

San Francisco Opera celebrates the opening of its 95th Season with Opera in the Park, presented by the San Francisco Chronicle, at Sharon Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Sunday, September 10 at 1:30 p.m. This free concert features acclaimed artists from the Company's 2017 Fall Season performing arias and other operatic favorites with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra conducted by Music Director Nicola Luisotti. In the event's time-honored finale, the audience joins with the singers for a rousing rendition of the brindisi (drinking song) from Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata. San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock serves as master of ceremonies for the afternoon.

Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Announces 2017-18 Season at the Kimmel Center
