National Theatre has announced today the new season for June 2017 - January 2018. Take a look at the shows coming to the theatre!

Jeremy Herrin, Headlong's Artistic Director, returns to the National Theatre to direct D C Moore's dark and funny new play, Common, an epic tale of unsavoury action and England's lost land with Anne-Marie Duff as Mary and Cush Jumbo as Laura. Director Sally Cookson brings her wondrously inventive Peter Pan to the National Theatre after a sell-out, critically acclaimed run at Bristol Old Vic Theatre. Peter Pan will open in the Olivier Theatre tonight 17 November, with press night on Friday 2 December. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the company in rehearsal below!

Devised by the Companies, based on the works of JM Barrie Previews from 16 November, Press Night 23 November, final performance 4 February.  Sophie Thompson has had to withdraw from the cast of Peter Pan, the National Theatre's Christmas show, due to a broken wrist. Anna Francolini, last seen at the NT in wonder.land, will take over the role of Captain Hook/ Mrs Darling. The NT is delighted that Anna was available to step into the role, and wishes Sophie a speedy recovery. 

Ruth Wilson takes the title role in HEDDA GABLER in a new version by Patrick Marber, directed by Ivo van Hove, in the new National Theatre season. The production previews from 5 December.

Diary of a Madman is a brand new adaptation of Gogol's classic story by Al Smith, reimagined in contemporary Scotland. Directed by Christopher Haydon, the sharply political, witty Diary of a Madman is on at the Traverse Theatre 4-28 August (press performance on 5 August) and at the Gate Theatre 28-30 July and 5-24 September (press performance on 6 September).

Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre Christopher Haydon today announces the full cast for the world premiere DIARY OF A MADMAN. Haydon directs Deborah Arnott (Mavra Sheeran), Liam Brennan (Pop Sheeran), Lois Chimimba (Mel McCloud), Guy Clark (Matthew White) and Louise McMenemy (Sophie Sheeran). Following the success of the Gate Theatre's recent Fringe First winning The Christians and Grounded, Diary of a Madman marks the Gate Theatre's third visit to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Carly Bawden will go virtual as 'Alice' in Damon Albarn (music) and Moira Buffini's (book & lyrics) WONDER.LAND, helmed by Rufus Norris at the National Theatre this autumn.
