Entertainment superstar Liza Minnelli - winner of an Oscar, two Golden Globes, a Grammy, an Emmy and multiple Tony Awards - will guest-star as herself in NBC's musical drama SMASH in the upcoming season, and will sing an original song with series star Christian Borle that was written by the show's celebrated composer and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Feinstein's at Loews Regnecy will close its Fall 2012 season with the return of the club's founder MICHAEL FEINSTEIN and two-time Tony Award winning Broadway and TV star Christine Ebersole from tonight, December 23 through New Year's Eve.

According to the Huffington Post, Liza Minnelli will be the first guest on the new live version of Kathy Giffin's Bravo talkshow. Tune in on January 10 to watch the Broadway legend in action.

For the first time ever, Bravo Media will premiere 'Kathy,' live! The weekly prime-time talk show hosted by two-time Emmy award winner Kathy Griffin will return on Thursday, January 10th at 10P.M. ET/PT. The live premiere will feature Kathy joined by celebrity guests Liza Minnelli and Jane Lynch as they break down the week's pop culture headlines, celebrity scandals and top television moments. In addition to her celebrity guests, this season will feature Kathy joined by her fun-loving mother, Maggie, always-adorable assistant, Tiffany and will introduce her new staff through a special look at how she runs the office.

In the upcoming musical exploring the relationship between Liza Minelli and Judy Garland, Janke Dekker will portray Liza, Jelka van Houten will play Judy. Theo Nijland, who will compose several new songs to accompagny the well-known hits by the two diva's, will be featured in the show as well.

Jeff Harnar, one of the most celebrated performers of the American Popular Songbook, will return to The Laurie Beechman Theatre in the show 'Does This Song Make Me Look Fat? (Lighter Fare for a Winter Night)' for four shows at 7:00 PM: Monday nights from January 14 to 28 and then Friday, February 8.

Broadway at Birdland has announced the continuation of the partnership with multi-Grammy and Tony nominated composer Frank Wildhorn with two holiday-themed "Frank & Friends" concerts. These evenings will celebrate the holiday songs and favorite performers from the composer's wide range of work in popular, theatrical and classical music. All profits will go to The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in the performing arts and entertainment.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 2013 Golden Globes Awards this morning, live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Among the nominations was the hit NBC musical drama SMASH, which was given a nod for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical. SMASH stars Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty commented on the news this morning.

tamford Center for the Arts will be awarding its fourth Annual Emerging Young Artist Scholarship Award to a talented vocalist, in honor of Liza Minnelli in the Spring of 2013 at SCA's Ovations Gala. The recipient of this award will receive a $2,000 scholarship to pursue his/her musical education. The criteria and audition process for the scholarship is outlined on SCA's website at www.SCAlive.org on the Education page. The audition is open to all high school students, grades nine through twelve, who live in Fairfield County, CT. The deadline to submit the completed audition form, resume and CD is February 25, 2013.

Actor/singer Cortes Alexander debuted his delightful Swell Party at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal on Monday August 13, and as I wrote then 'What a uniquely fun evening of anecdote and song!' Alexander worked with Liza Minnelli in Liza at the Palace, but she met him years before when his group The Tonics had a regular gig in NYC. Alexander sings many of his own compositions and has a fine, smooth, easy-going style that pulls you in the minute he opens his mouth. On Monday December 10, Alexander came back to the Federal for the Christmas version of his show called Have a Swell Holiday. His Swell girls were also on hand Melissa Bailey and this time Julie Garnye with musical director John Boswell at piano, Norman Ludwin on bass, Terry Schoenig on percussion, and Paul Landry on guitar. The total effect of these stellar musicians made for a jazzy, swinging evening of musical mirth.
