Mark DeGarmo Dance presents the February 2020 edition of its annual transcultural transdisciplinary Salon Performance Series with performances by Catey Clark, Joan Liu, Jill Moshman, and Frances Rosario-Puleo on February 6th at 7pm in Mark DeGarmo Dance Studio Theater 310. The artists' respective works-in-progress draw on such diverse wellsprings as: the calmness of disaster, boundaries imposed by education, exploring place through sensory memory, and examining the inclusions that form spirals in gemstones.
Jacob's Pillow announces this season's artist residencies offered at the Pillow Lab, its year-round incubator of new work. The annual season of customizable residencies supports U.S.-based and international dance artists during crucial development, research, and technical stages of choreography-driven projects. The 2019-2020 recipients include Kyle Abraham, Aszure Barton, Brian Brooks, Milka Djordjevich, Alice Gosti, Kinetic Light, Stephanie McKee-Anderson, Aakash Odedra, RUBBERBAND, Didy Veldman, and Yaa Samar! March 21-24, Pontine Theatre continues its premiere season at the Plains School, with performances by Peter Dimuro's Public Displays of Motion. The newly renovated Plains School, located at One Plains Avenue in Portsamouth's West End, is a collaboration between Pontine Theatre and the City of Portsmouth.
The American Dance Festival (ADF) will award the 2019 Balasaraswati/Joy Anne Dewey Beinecke Endowed Chair for Distinguished Teaching to longtime Paul Taylor Dance Company rehearsal director Bettie de Jong. A ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in Reynolds Industries Theater at the opening night performance of the Paul Taylor Dance Company.

Under the direction of Charles O. Anderson, Dorothy O'Shea Overbey and Gesel Mason, The University of Texas at Austin's award-winning dance company Dance Repertory Theatre returns to the stage in Fall For Dance, November 6-11 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre. An examination of embodiment and innovation through contemporary ballet, Fall For Dance features works by renowned guest artists, including Gregory Dolbashian and Sidra Bell.
One month after the close of its 86th season, Jacob's Pillow announces record-breaking ticket sales for its acclaimed summer dance festival. The organization reports over $2.5 million in ticket sales, an increase of 13% when compared with 2017; over 40,000 tickets were sold, an increase of 5%, when compared with last year. The season boasts 10,000 unique ticket buyers, an increase of 8% and the largest number since the organization began tracking this particular indicator in 2005.

The galleries of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum will come to life this fall with dancer-led tours, choreographed by the Museum's first Choreographer-in-Residence, Peter DiMuro. The tours, part of a new initiative to animate the galleries with contemporary performances and integrate dance into exhibitions and programming, will take place Oct. 11-25 with a special performance at the Oct. 18 Third Thursday event.

Irondale is proud to present the New York premiere of Sea of Common Catastrophe, a surreal multimedia theater work that grapples with complicity in the face of rapid urban change. Designed and directed by Jeff Becker, who leads a team of fellow New Orleans-based artists, Sea of Common Catastrophe follows three long-time residents of a tiny seaside town whose lives are uprooted when a compelling stranger arrives. Inspired by a passage from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novella Sea of Lost Time-where a town drowns on a Sunday afternoon but persists, submerged, in its daily life, as if the deluge had never occurred-Sea of Common Catastrophe uses spectacular lighting and video, live music, and an innovative two-story set to evoke a changing landscape of upscale living and chic restaurants that suddenly transforms into a magical sunken world.
Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.
The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago announces the appointment of Ellen Chenoweth as the permanent Director of its Dance Presenting Series (DPS) and a new faculty member of the Department of Dance, effective July 1, 2018. Chenoweth has been serving as Interim Director of the DPS since September 11, 2017.
