BEAUTIFUL's Brian Ronan Wins Best Sound Design of a Musical Tony

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical's Brian Ronan has won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical. Ronan has designed the sound for over twenty five Broadway shows. Some recent designs include Annie, Bring It On, Nice Work (Tony nomination), Book of Mormon (Tony), Anything Goes (Tony nomination, Drama Desk), American Idiot, Promises Promises, Next to Normal(Tony nomination), Grease, Curtains, Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens, Pajama Game, All Shook Up, 12 Angry Men, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Charlie Brown, Cabaret.

Chita Rivera, Karen Ziemba & More Join National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene's RAISING THE ROOF Lineup at Town Hall, 6/9

Tony Award-winners Chita Rivera and Karen Ziemba, Norman Norman Jewison, Academy Award-winning director of the 1971 film version of Fiddler on the Roof (Irving Thalberg Award Recipient), and Ambassador Ido Aharoni, Counsul General of Israel, have joined the lineup of Raising the Roof, an all-star benefit concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, the 50th Anniversary of iconic American musical, Fiddler on the Roof, and the 90th birthday of its Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at New York's The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street).

Krystal Joy Brown, Claybourne Elder, Capathia Jenkins & More to Lead UMC's Reading of PEGGY-ANN, 5/22

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will launch its 2014 developmental reading series at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts with a special presentation of Peggy-Ann, the hit 1926 musical comedy with a book by Tony Award winner Herbert Fields (Annie Get Your Gun) and a score by the legendary songwriting team of Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart (Pal Joey, On Your Toes). The reading, directed by Ben West (Unsung Carolyn Leigh, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), will be held Thursday, May 22 at 2:30 PM in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

Theatre luminaries and current Broadway stars including Brian Dennehy, Sebastian Arcelus, Adriane Lenox, Tonya Pinkins, Orfeh & Andy Karl, Jessie Mueller, Laura Osnes, and more, helped cheer on Mothers and Sons stars Tyne Daly, Frederick Weller, Bobby Steggert, and Grayson Taylor as they supported the Actors Fund. BEAUTIFUL Cast Recording Now Available on CD; Vinyl Edition Coming 6/3

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical is now available for purchase in stores and online. The CD, produced by Jason Howland, Steve Sidwell and Billy Jay Stein, with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer, includes a 28-page color booklet with full lyrics, rare and never-before-seen archival and show photos, and liner notes by Beautiful book writer Douglas McGrath.

BEAUTIFUL Headed to the West End in Early 2015?

According to the Daily Mail, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is headed across the pond and will run at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End in 'early 2015'. No word yet on whether or how the show will be recast or specific dates for the run. BWW will keep you updated as we know more!

Carole King to Perform with BEAUTIFUL Cast at Tony Awards?

According to the New York Times, Carole King, who until last month had seen the Broadway show about her life, we reportedly 'do anything it takes' to help Beautiful win Tony Awards this June. The show, which earned 7 nods on Tuesday, is one of four new shows up for Best Musical, and King plans on both attending and performing at the June 8 ceremony, though she hasn't yet decided what she will sing. She told NYT: 'Once I got over my fear of how the show would affect me emotionally - seeing my life onstage - I decided I was all in on helping the show.'

Joshua Bell, Frank London, Austin Pendleton and Jackie Hoffman have joined the lineup for Raising the Roof - an all-star benefit concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Fiddler on the Roof, its Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, and the 100thanniversary of The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene - on Monday, June 9th, at New York's The Town Hall.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Fiddler on the Roof, Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning lyricist Sheldon Harnick will be honored and will perform with the largest-ever reunion of original, revival and film cast members as part of an all-star benefit concert for The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene on Monday, June 9th, at New York's Town Hall.
