Pix11 recently visited the Stephen Sondheim Theatre to chat with some members of BEAUTIFUL- THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL. In these videos, Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller (Carole King) and Jake Epstein (Gerry Goffin) give tours of their dressing rooms, showing off costumes, fan gifts, and random treasures. Also, musical supervisor Jason Howland explains how a middle school crush led to his listening to Carole King for the first time.

BEAUTIFUL - THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL received seven Tony Award nominations this year, winning two (one for Mueller and one for Sound Design). The new musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, is currently playing on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd Street), following a critically acclaimed, sold-out World Premiere in San Francisco. The show officially opened on Sunday, January 12, 2014.

On Broadway, Jessie Mueller stars as Carole King, joined by Jake Epstein as Gerry Goffin, Anika Larsen as Cynthia Weil, Jarrod Spector as Barry Mann, Jeb Brown as Don Kirshner and Liz Larsen as Genie Klein.

With a book by playwright and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince, Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole Kingand Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil.
