CMT Revs Up Programming Slate with Series Greenlight and Season Renewal

 Fresh off its best year since 2014, CMT today announced a series order for “Racing Wives”. The eight-episode, hour-long unscripted series from Executive Producer Jenny Daly and T Group Productions follows the never-before-seen private lives of captivating women who are married to world famous race car drivers. CMT has also renewed “Music City,” hit docuseries from “The Hills” creator Adam DiVello and Lionsgate, for a ten-episode second season. Both shows will premiere early next year.

Global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) has entered a new multiyear output deal with longstanding partner Nordisk Film in Scandinavia, the two companies announced today.

Known for putting fans at the crossroads of fashion and pop culture, E!'s new Fashion Week exclusive docu-series “Model Squad,” produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate and IMG, follows nine high-profile, in-demand supermodels in the make-or-break fashion industry. Launching in conjunction with the start of New York Fashion Week, where E! is the official multi-platform media partner of New York Fashion Week: The Shows, viewers will get an exclusive look behind the runway with a two-week premiere event beginning Tuesday, September 4th through Friday, September 14th at 8 PM ET/PT.

Significantly expanding its footprint in the growing faith-based market, global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) has signed a multi-platform film and television first-look deal with Andrew and Jon Erwin and producing partner Kevin Downes, the filmmaking team behind this year's box office hit I Can Only Imagine, which was released by Lionsgate and sister company Roadside Attractions. The announcement was made today by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chairman, Joe Drake, and Television Group Chairman, Kevin Beggs.

According to Variety, Broadway alum Patrick Wilson has joined the upcoming World War II action movie "Midway," directed by Roland Emmerich. The film also stars Woody Harrelson, Luke Evans and Mandy Moore.

Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne currently in negotiations to star in The Good Nurse, a thriller based on the book by Charles Graeber, according to Deadline.

Universal Music Group and Lionsgate have signed a multiyear first-look television deal, according to Variety. This deal will have the companies developing original scripted and unscripted television projects drawn from UMG's portfolio of labels, artists and music.

Comedy Central has secured the exclusive linear television rights to all current seasons of the Netflix original series BoJack Horseman, making the #1 brand in comedy the only place to watch the hit animated series on linear TV. Season One of The Tornante Company-produced series will make its linear television premiere on Comedy Central this fall immediately following the Season 22 debut of South Park. Select episodes will be available to stream on cc.com and the CC App. The deal was negotiated by Lionsgate-owned distributor Debmar-Mercury and Viacom Program Acquisitions Group.

On July 25th, Jason Stuart the film LIKE FATHER will premiere on DEKKOO's streaming service. He acts, directs and produced 'the little film that could'. LIKE FATHER revolves around a Jewish New Yorker, who is a bedridden patriarch dying of lung cancer (Jason Stuart). His gay African American son (Nic Few) wants him to admit he was a bad father. Instead, Lenny confesses (for the very first time to another human being), that despite his long-lasting marriage and faithfulness to Jake's mother (Denise Dowse), he's always been attracted to men but never acted on it.
