Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the global leader in music rights management, has announced that the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop is now accepting applications for its first year composer/lyricist class. The application deadline is end of day on Monday, August 15, 2016.

Summer in the city begins on July 4th, Louis Armstrong's traditional birthday, when the Louis Armstrong House Museum kicks off its signature summer concert series Hot Jazz / Cool Garden - now in its 10th year. For three days this summer, hot jazz is served up with red beans 'n' rice in the Armstrongs' Japanese-inspired garden. Birthday cake will be served on July 4th and Hot Jazz / Cool Garden series subscribers will enjoy a soul food luncheon too. It's a wonderful world at the Louis Armstrong House Museum.

GABRIELLE STRAVELLI - the celebrated pop/jazz vocalist and songwriter called an "outstanding singer" by The Wall Street Journal and "hotter than the equator" by The Village Voice - will make her "Broadway at Birdland" debut at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street) on Monday, April 11 at 7:00 PM.

GABRIELLE STRAVELLI - the celebrated pop/jazz vocalist and songwriter called an "outstanding singer" by The Wall Street Journal and "hotter than the equator" by The Village Voice - will debut at the West Village jazz institution 55 Bar (55 Christopher Street) on Monday, March 14 for two sets starting at 7:00 PM.

Co-starring the fierce tap dancing Manzari brothers and the all female vivacious Diva Jazz Orchestra, the show is directed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Deaf West's Big River, Grease). Acclaimed trumpeter Wynton Marsalis will perform a 'Tribute to Clark Terry' with the New Jersey City University Alumni Jazz Big Band conducted by NJCU Professor Richard Lowenthal. 

Performing in concert at Leddy Center in Epping, Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30pm, Epping, NH native, Mary Gatchell, is a dynamic singer, pianist, and composer living in New York City.  With four albums to her credit and music video, Shining Star, she has delighted audiences with her velvety voice and alluring charm with a refreshing unique style all her own in legendary clubs such as the Blue Note, Birdland, Bitter End, CBGB's, Knitting Factory, Boston House of Blues, Ryles, and many more. She sang three concerts with the Rolling Stones on their 50th anniversary tour in Brooklyn's Barclays Center and Newark's Prudential Center. Mary studied voice, piano, and oboe at NYU, graduating Magna cum Laude, with a degree in theory and composition.
