Alexander, Baer & More Set For POPART: The Musical At NYMF

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), in association with Extra-Ordinary Productions, present the new musical POPart: The Musical with Book & Lyrics by Daryl Lisa Fazio, and Music by Aaron McAllister, directed by Chad Larabee with music direction by Andrew Smithson and choreography by DJ Gray.

Make no mistake about it: everybody in Tennessee loves Dolly Parton! She's a Volunteer State treasure, a role model for people all over the world and an example of what hard work and a whole lotta heart can achieve. Hell, if Dolly (in Tennessee, no other modifier is needed to identify our favorite daughter) ran for office, she'd be a shoo-in! And it's clear - judging from audience reactions during the national touring company's Nashville kick-off at Tennessee Performing Arts Center - that Tennesseans love 'em some 9 to 5: The Musical, the retooled, refashioned and re-imagined theatrical piece based on the 1980 film in which Dolly made her own screen debut.

Off-Bway Premiere of Solms' 'IT MUST BE HIM,' Ends 8/26

Producer Orin Wolf and Off the Aisle Productions have announced that It Must Be Him, a new comedy by Kenny Solms, co-creator and writer of the legendary, Emmy Award-winning 'Carol Burnett Show,' will premiere this summer at the Peter J. Sharp Theatre (416 West 42nd Street). Directed by Daniel Kutner, It Must Be Him began performances on Tuesday, August 24, and officially opened on Wednesday, September 1. The limited engagement ends Sunday, September 26.

Triad Theatre Adds BEWITCHED Performance, 10/14

There will be another performance of 'Bewitched, The Songs of Rodgers and Hart' at The Triad Theatre 158 West 72nd Street NYC (east of Broadway) by The Philhallmonic Society. The shows will be performed on Thursday, October 14th at 7:00 pm and also on Friday, October 22nd at 9:00 pm. This special event concert is a benefit for this unique organization. Bewitched is directed and arranged by international Broadway composer, conductor and producer Phil Hall, and is staged by Broadway dancer and choreographer Mark Santoro. The Philhallmonic Society delivers an unforgettable musical experience of the highest caliber. The respective performers for each of the shows will soon be announced. Tickets are only $20 for general admission* and $30 for premium seating*. There is a two drink minimum for the shows. It is cash only at the theatre.

LA Gay & Lesbian Center & Soap Stars Present Kander & Ebb's WORLD GOES ROUND in Oct.

ABC Daytime and the Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center are teaming up to present an evening of soap opera stars and Broadway song! Cast members from All My Children and General Hospital will perform the award-winning Kander & Ebb musical revue The World Goes ‘Round, seasoned with backstage insights and hush-hush previews of upcoming storylines.

Al Pacino is this year's recipient of the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or a Movie for HBO's You Don't Know Jack. Theater vet Pacino has appeared on Broadway in Salome, American Buffalo, Hughie, and King Richard III, among others. He will next appear on Broadway in The Merchant of Venice, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre this fall.

Claire Danes Wins 2010 Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a TV Mini-Series or Movie

Claire Danes is this year's recipient of the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Actress in a Mini Series or a Movie for HBO's Temple Grandin. Theater vet Danes has appeared on Broadway in Pygmalion. Additional stage credits include The Vagina Monologues, the dance piece Edith and Jenny, among others.

STAGE TUBE: GLEE Opens the 2010 Primetime Emmys!

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards is airing live coast to coast tonight, on August 29 (8-11 p.m. EST) on NBC, originating from the Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles.
