Kicking off Women's History Month; ESSENCE turned the spotlight on four remarkable women, during Oscar week, with its popular “BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS,” held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Returning to its traditional daytime luncheon, the ESSENCE “BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS” was hosted by actress Yvonne Orji.  This year's program honored actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish; actress Danai Gurira; Emmy-Award winning writer and director Lena Waithe and actress and activist Tessa Thompson.  For the fourth consecutive year, the ESSENCE“BLACK WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD AWARDS” will air as a primetime special on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on March 3, 2018 at 10 pm ET/PT.

STANDUP NBC is a nationwide talent search for comedians of diverse backgrounds. The origin behind NBC's Stand Up for Diversity was to give traditionally underrepresented groups a chance to showcase their talents.

MTV today announced the debut of new comedy series, SAFEWORD where famous friends become famous frenemies all for a good laugh. “SafeWord” will premiere today, July 13 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following a new episode of “Wild 'N Out” and as part of MTV's “Throwdown Todays” comedy block.

MTV's bigger and bolder WILD 'N OUT premiere on Thursday, June 29, was the network's highest rated unscripted episode with P12-17 in more than two years, up a whopping 143% while young adults P18-34 were up 86%. The episode garnered a 1.0 P12-17 and .7 P18-34.

Roy Wood Jr. has been named the new host of Comedy Central's wild storytelling series, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING, which will film its fourth season this weekend in Hollywood for a fall premiere on Comedy Central.

NBCUniversal Talent Infusion Programs (NBCUNI TIPS) has named comedian and musician JR De Guzman as the winner of its 13th Annual StandUp NBC nationwide search for comedians of diverse backgrounds. De Guzman has been awarded a one-year talent holding deal with NBCUniversal and a headlining spot later this month at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) annual convention where he will perform before talent bookers from across the country. He will also headline the regional semi-finalist showcases for this year's StandUp NBC.

Crackle, Sony's free streaming service, today announced that the network's original film, MAD FAMILIES, starring Charlie Sheen, will premiere today, January 12, 2017.
