BWW Review: BLKS is a Triumph at Woolly Mammoth Theatre

Aziza Barne's BLKS is a stop-you-in-your-tracks, laugh-out-loud comedy that is about to take DC by storm. Barnes' electric writing powerfully celebrates, queerness, sisterhood and the implications of being 'Black and alive.' With director Nataki Garrett at the helm, the cast brings Aziza's words to life with infectious joy. My cheeks still hurt from smiling.

Geva's Presents Its Second World Premiere Of 2019 - Lila Rose Kaplan's THE MAGICIAN'S DAUGHTER

Geva Theatre Center's 2018-2019 Fielding Studio Series continues with the world premiere of The Magician's Daughter, written by Lila Rose Kaplan and directed by Shelley Butler. This production marks the second world premiere of the season, following hot on the heels of the world premiere of Brent Askari's Hard Cell - also premiering in January. The Magician's Daughter begins performances on January 24 and runs in the Fielding Stage through February 10.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director) presents A Christmas Carol in Harlem, based on the timeless work by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol in Harlem is adapted by Shawn Rene Graham, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III and choreographed by Tiffany Rea-Fisher. This re-imagining of the classic Christmas tale will include some original music and classic holiday carols tinged with gospel, hip-hop, pop and R&B influences, which celebrate the spirit of the season the Harlem way.

SWEAT Offers A Compelling Portrait Of Pride And Survival At Cleveland Play House

Cleveland Play House (CPH) brings to life Lynn Nottage's complex story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Rust Belt drama Sweat.  Set in Reading, PA, this relevant story offers audience members suspense through its intricate portrayal of characters battling to survive in a city crippled by economic stagnation. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley will direct. Previews begin on October 13th, with press opening on October 19th at the Outcalt Theatre in Playhouse Square. This production is sponsored by Great Lakes Brewing Company.

Alliance Presents World Premiere Story Of Atlanta's First Integrated Jazz Club

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to present the world premiere production of Nick's Flamingo Grill, by award-winning Atlanta playwright and author Phillip DePoy.  Nick's Flamingo Grill is inspired by the true story of the first integrated jazz club in Atlanta and will debut on the Hertz Stage September 29 - October 28, 2018.  Opening night is Thursday, October 4.

The Colorado Theatre Guild Presents The 13th Annual Henry Award Nominations

The Colorado Theatre Guild's 13th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Lone Tree Arts Center, located at 10075 Commons St. Lone Tree, CO 80124.
