Riverspace Celebrates Director Mike Nichols On 3/6

Riverspace will roll out the red carpet and welcome celebrated director Mike Nichols on Friday, March 6 at 8:00 p.m. This rare appearance brings Mr. Nichols together with Riverspace Co-artistic Director Elliott Forrest for a fundraiser as part of the Conversation Series. U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel will introduce Nichols. One of the few distinguished artists to have won every major American award - an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award - Mike Nichols is a television, stage and film director, writer and producer. His career began as part of the incredibly influential 'Nichols and May' comedy team, with partner Elaine May. His illustrious film career began when he directed Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. That was followed by the iconic film The Graduate for which he won an Oscar for Best Director. Some of Mr. Nichols' other film credits include Carnal Knowledge. Catch-22, Charlie Wilson's War, The Odd Couple and Silkwood; television credits include Angels in America and Wit and Broadway shows include Barefoot in the Park, Hurlyburly, Spamalot and The Gin Game.

Comedian Lewis Black Comes To Terry Fator Theater 5/23, 24

Lewis Black, best known for his regular segment 'Back in Black' on Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,' will perform his hilarious stand-up routine for the first time inside the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage May 23 at 10 p.m. and May 24 at 9 p.m.

Tony Award-winners Nathan Lane and Anika Noni Rose are set to participant in The Vineyard Theatre's star-studded tribute to Tony Award-winning actress Marian Seldes and The Union Square Partnership at the theatre's annual gala on Monday, February 9th at 6 PM at The Rainbow Room (30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th floor) in Manhattan. The Gala, which will benefit the Vineyard Theatre, one of the nation's leading theatres devoted to producing new works, will include salutations to Ms. Seldes -- who originated her role in Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play THREE TALL WOMEN in 1993 at The Vineyard -- and celebrate its theme of community spirit and neighborhood involvement by also honoring The Union Square Partnership. Nathan Lane, who will host the evening, starred opposite Ms. Seldes Off-Broadway in Terrence McNally's DEDICATION, OR THE STUFF OF DREAMS. TV Writer Kellett Debuts 'TIED IN KNOTS' at South Beach Comedy Fest 1/22

Variety reports that Gloria Calderon Kellett, a writer for the CBS series How I Met Your Mother, is debuting her comedy project, 'Tied in Knots,' on Thursday January 22nd at the South Beach Comedy Festival. Kellett wrote the romantic comedy as a play, but with the hopes that it could be adapted into a TV pilot or feature project reports the entertainment publication. 'Tied in Knots' centers on a couple surrounded by a group of single friends, all in their 30s. The couple wind up acting as parental figures to their pals, all of whom are still figuring out life in the dating world.
