Mama Foundation Brings ALIVE! to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem Tonight

The Mama Foundation for the Arts presents ALIVE!, a celebration of a generation in song, featuring a full company of performers who are age 55 and over. Conceived and written by Vy Higginsen and Ken Wydro (the creators of MAMA, I WANT TO SING), and directed by Mr. Wydro, ALIVE! returns to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem (127 W. 127 St.) this Fall -- performing Saturday matinees tonight, October 4th and October 18th, November 1st, 15th and 22nd at 2 PM.

The Mama Foundation for the Arts presents ALIVE!, a celebration of a generation in song, featuring a full company of performers who are age 55 and over. Conceived and written by Vy Higginsen and Ken Wydro (the creators of MAMA, I WANT TO SING), and directed by Mr. Wydro, ALIVE! returns to The Dempsey Theater in Harlem (127 W. 127 St.) this Fall - performing Saturday matinees on October 4th and 18th, November 1st, 15th and 22nd at 2 PM. ALIVE! will be profiled by Lesley Stahl in an upcoming "60 Minutes" news story that will air later this year (Ms. Stahl previously profiled The Mama Foundation's Gospel for Teens program in a 2012 Emmy Award-winning feature). Michael Cohl Reveals SPIDER-MAN Arena Tour in the Works for 2015-16

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark producer Michael Cohl revealed that the show will n fact not be opening in Las Vegas. Instead an arena tour is in the works for 'late 2015 or winter 2016.' He told WSJ: "I think Spider-man is a pop culture rock show that was meant to be in arenas." When asked about the recently cancelled Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour, another project with which he was affiliated, Cohl commented: "It was a disaster. Ticket sales were terrible."

Harlem's Mama Foundation for the Arts will celebrate its 15th Anniversary at its second annual Gala, which will take place at St. Martin's Cathedral (230 Lenox Avenue at 122nd Street) on Monday, June 16th from 6 - 9 PM. The special evening of food and entertainment -- which benefits Gospel for Teens, a program of the Mama Foundation for the Arts' School for Gospel, Jazz, and R&B Arts -- is graciously underwritten by Larry Scott and Lawrence Scott Events. This literary luncheon, held at the Metropolitan Club, was emceed by Board Member, author extraordinaire and Authors In Kind founder, Linda Fairstein. Linda introduced each guest author, who then took the podium to share anecdotes and remarks about their work to the delight of our many guests.
